MINUTES - SPECIAL MEETING

LA PORTE CITY COMMISSION, LA PORTE, TEXAS
APRIL 29, 1974
7:00 P.M.
MEMBERS OF THE COMMISSION PRESENT: Mayor E. A. Thomas,
Commissioners I. J. Kibodeaux, A. Uel Price and
C. D. Boyle.
MEMBERS OF THE COMMISSION ABSENT: Comm. C. D. Christensen.
(Comm. Christensen arrived at 7:18)

OTHER CITY OFFICIALS PRESENT: Virginia Cline, City Clerk,
and R. R. Hall, Assistant Chief of Police.
PRESIDING: Mayor E. A. Thomas.

1. Mayor Thomas read a request from Police Sergeant,
James LaFitte, asking for approval of new members
to the La Porte Police Reserve Force. (A copy
of which is attached to and made a part of these
minutes.)
Motion by Comm. Kibodeaux, seconded by Comm.
Price to approve Patrolman, Reserve, Commissions
for the following new members:
Waymon Allen
Carol Frazier
Danny Williams
Bill Thompson
Lester Knupple
Sammy Jacobs
Bruce Land
Pat O'Conner
Robert Collins
Charles Gilbert
Reserve
Officers

Motion carried by the following vote:
AYES: Commissioners Kibodeaux, Price and
Boyle.
NAYS: None.
ABSENT: Commissioner Christensen.

2. A canvass of the returns of the run-off
election held on April 27, 1974 was made
by the Commission. A total of 1277 votes
were cast, with the following results:
MAYOR:

E. A. "Buck" Thomas 769
CITY COMMISSIONER, POSITION 4:

R. E. "Bob" THROWER 537
Returns of run-off
election canvassed
RESULTS
Motion by Comm. Price, seconded by Comm.
Kibodeaux to approve the returns as submitted
by the presiding judge of the election, Mrs.
Arbela Ralston. Motion carried by the follow-
ing vote:
AYES: Commissioners Christensen, Kibodeaux,
Price and Boyle.
NAYS: None.

Price that the meeting be adjourned. Motion
carried by the following vote:
AYES: Commissioners Christensen, Kibodeaux,
Price and Boyle.
NAYS: None.

attended a Certification School held at San Jacinto
Junior College and all satisfactorily completed the
course.
