J. Kibodeaux, Commissioners Bill Love, Virginia Cline, and C. D. Boyle. MEMBERS OF THE COMMISSION ABSENT: None. OTHER CITY OFFICIALS PRESENT: Larry L. Broussard, Director of Finance; Margie Goyen, City Clerk; Knox Askins, City Attorney; H. F. Freeman, Chief of Police; Larry Morton, Director of Public Works; Joe Sease, Fire Chief; J. B. Williamson, Municipal Judge. OTHER CITY OFFICIALS ABSENT: None OTHERS PRESENT: J. J. Meza, Mayor elect; Tom C. Simons, Commissioner elect. PRESIDING: Mayor Pro-Tem Kibodeaux. + + + 1. CALL TO ORDER - Mayor Pro-Tem Kibodeaux called the meeting to order. + + + • • • Special Meeting 4/26/76 2. APPROVAL OF MINUTES - REGULAR MEETING - APRIL 19, 1976 - Motion by Commissioner Boyle, seconded by Commissioner Cline to approve the minutes of the regular meeting of April 19, 1976, as presented. Motion carried by the following vote: AYES: Commissioners Love, Cline, and Boyle. NAYS: None. + + + 2 3. CANVASS RESULTS OF ELECTION - After the proposed ordinance was read, motion by Commissioner Boyle, seconded by Cline to adopt Ordinance No. 1034 as read. Motion carried by the following vote: AYES: Commissioners Love, Cline, and Boyle. NAYS: None. • CAPTION: AN ORDINANCE DECLARING THE RESULTS OF THE RUN-OFF ELECTION HELD IN THE CITY OF LA PORTE ON APRIL 24, 1976, FOR THE ELECTION OF A MAYOR, AND A CITY COMMISSIONER, POSITION 4. The results of election were canvassed by the Commission. + + + 4. CERTIFICATE OF APPRECIATION - CHARLES D. BOYLE - Mayor Pro-Tem Kibodeaux presented a Certificate of Appreciation to Charles D. Boyle for his years of service to the City and its citizens, as a member of the City Commission. + + + 5. ADMINISTER OATH OF OFFICE TO NEW CITY OFFICIALS - I. J. KIBODEAUX - COMMISSIONER, POSITION 2 - Judge J. B. Wil iamson administered the oath of office to Commissioner Kibodeaux and presented a Certificate of Election to him. • ~ • • Special Meeting 4/26/76 3 5. ADMINISTER OATH OF. OFFICE TO NEW CITY OFFICIALS (CONTINUED) TOM C. SIMONS - COMMISSIONER, POSITION 4 - Judge J. B. Williamson administered the oath of office to Commissioner Simons and presented a Certificate of Election to him. J. J. MEZA - MAYOR - Judge J. B. Williamson administered the oath o office to Mayor Meza and presented a Certificate of Election to him. The newly elected officials were seated.. Commissioner Simons expressed his thanks to all for being elected. Commissioner Kibodeaux expressed his appreciation to all and stated that he would try and serve all the citizens and work with everyone. Mayor Meza expressed his appreciation to everyone for coming out to vote and showing such an interest in the • City election and a thanks to those who voted for him. A special thanks to his wife, Patsy and their daughters for their support and hard work. + + + 6. ADJOURNMENT - Motion by Commissioner Cline, seconded by Commissioner Kibodeaux that the meeting adjourn. Motion carried by the following vote: AYES: Commissioners Love, Kibodeaux, Cline, and Simons.
