Meza, Mayor; Commissioners Bill Love, I. J. Kibodeaux, Virginia Cline, and Tom Simons. MEMBERS OF THE COMMISSION ABSENT: None. OTHER CITY OFFICIALS PRESENT: Larry L. Broussard, Director of Finance; Margie Goyen, City Clerk; H. F. Freeman, Chief of Police; Joe Sease, Fire Chief; Royal Shepherd, Public Works Director; Knox Askins, City Attorney. • OTHER CITY OFFICIALS ABSENT: D. R. Mc Laughlin, Fire Marshal; Stanley Sherwood, Director of Parks and Recreation. OTHERS PRESENT: John L. Tomerlin, Commissioner elect. PRESIDING: Mayor Meza. + + + 1. CALL TO ORDER - Mayor Meza called the meeting to order. + + + • • Special Meeting 4/11/77 C 2 2. INDUCT NEW OFFICIALS INTO OFFICE - Mayor Meza administered the Oath of Office to both Commissioners Cline and Tomerlin at the same time. A Certificate of Election was presented to each of them. The newly elected officials were seated. + + + 3. CERTIFICATE OF APPRECIATION - A Certificate of Appreciation was presented to Bill Love for his service to the City and its citizens, as a member of the City Commission. Mr. Love expressed his appreciation, stating he felt this position had been the most interesting, the most challenging, and the most rewarding of anything he had ever done. + + + • 4. EXPRESSIONS OF APPRECIATION - Commissioner Tomerlin expressed his appreciation to Mr. Love for the condition Position I was left in. He further stated that he was looking forward to working in this position. He wished that there had been more interest shown, as he was elected unopposed by another candidate. Commissioner Cline recognized her husband, Robert; her mother, Mrs. Murrell, visiting here from Oklahoma; and her Aunt Frances, visiting here from California; expressing her appreciation to all. She stated she had been encouraged to know that she had the support of so many dear friends, making her job as a public servant easier. She further stated that she was proud there were people like this to serve. RECOGNITION - Mayor Meza recognized Mrs. John Tomerlin, her sons, Marty and Mike; as well as Commissioner Tomerlin's Mother.
