Box 1115 LETTER OF INTENT COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT ACT Dear Sir: • The City of La Porte intends to file an application for Community Development Funds. There is a dire need for recreational facilities to especially serve the needs of the area in our City known as the "North Side". This area contains many low income families and is predominately "black". Civic leaders have expressed the desire to hold a neighborhood or "town meeting" at the City Hall so that the. needs of the area can be openly discussed and studied. The City owns a tract of land in this area on which we would like to construct a swimming pool, tennis courts, playground and other recreational facilities. The estimated cost of these improvements is two hundred thousand dollars. Another badly needed item would be low income housing for the same area. Your assistance and consideration will be appreciated by the citizens of La Porte. Ver y yours, J. J. Meza, Ma or •
