RICH PASTOR Honorable Virginia Cline and Members of City Council 604 West Fairmont Parkway La Porte, Texas 77571 Dear Mayor Cline and City Council Members: April 27, 1984 Bayshore Baptist Church has experienced extensive growth during the last three years, with two hundred additions each year. Our facilities are over-crowded, and we do not have adequate space in our present plant to teach and train this great influx of members. Our church is presently in a building program to alleviate the situation. We have had five architectural firms to discuss our building needs, and they have all informed us that for the size sanctuary we will need, we must have an area 190' by 100'. Our existing parking lot on the south side of our two-story building would be the most logical place for a new sanctuary, but this area is only 100' by 100'. HJe own all of the lots on the block where our present buildings are located with the exception of the four lots on the south corner of Virginia and G Street, and we own about three-fourths of block 277. We have discussed building our sanc- tuary across G Street, but the members and children would have to cross the street during inclement weather and in traffic. The only other al- ternative would be if you would allow G Street to be closed. Then we would have ample room to build next to our two-story building and place the parking lot to the south. The members of Bayshore Baptist Church prayerfully request that you con- sider this matter. With the Lord's help, we are doing arhat we can to further the Gospel in our community. We will be available for discussion at any time. Thank-.you for your con- sideration. Sincerel~ e D. Rich y.- astor JDR/1 ~ ~ ~ \ . r ~ ~~.. ~, _ ~ r:. l' :~~~~ ~~li~--~ ~. Box 1115 La Porte, Texas 77571 RE: REQUESTED STREET CLOSING ON 17th Street, La Porte, Texas Dear Mayor Cline and City Council Members; This letter is our request that the portion of 17th Street in La Porte, Texas, lying between Blocks 1177 and 1178 be closed as shown on the attached plat. Blocks 1177 and 1178 are outlined in green are currently either owned by Eddie V. Gray, Trustee, or under contract for purchase by Eddie V. Gray, Trustee. Stuart Haynsworth is the General rlanaging Partner of La Porte 81, Ltd., which is the Seller in the contract to Eddie V. Gray, Trustee, for a portion of Blocks 1177 and 1178 as shown in orange on the plat. The portion of 17th Street that these owners are requesting be closed is that 60' x 400' strip outlined in pink on the plat. The areas shown in yellow on the plat represent industrial property in which streets have been closed to allow for the industrial use of these properties. The portion of West 0 Street to the South of Block 1177 and 1178, as well as the portion of West N Street to the North of Blocks 1177 and 1178 are open streets, so the closing of the portion of 17th Street between Blocks 1177 and 1178 will not create any access problems to any of the surrounding properties. Further the part of 17th Street directly South of these two Blocks has already been closed, that being the portion between B1eAks 1202 and 1201. The owners therefore request the closing of this portion of 17th Street in order that they may either develop or market this industrial site as one tract. •~ The proof of ownership of Blocks 1177 and 1178 is attached in the form of deeds on this property. These deeds also contain the legal description of the property. Also enclosed please find the application fee of $100.00 or, this requested street closing. At this time the owners request that the City Secretary, Cherie Black, be allowed to begin the approval process for this street closing and that Eddie V. Gray be allowed to have the property • ~ • ~~ ~ appraised so that the street closing may be accomplished in a timely manner. Thank you for your consideration in this matter.
