CALL TO ORDER—Mayor Pro-Tem Bentley called the meeting to order at 3:00 p.m. 2. CITIZEN COMMENT (Generally limited to five minutes per person; in accordance with state law, the time may be reduced if there is a high number of speakers or other considerations.) Chuck Rosa spoke in opposition to the extension of the disaster declaration and any postponement of the May 2, 2020, election. 3. STATUTORY AGENDA (a) Presentation, discussion, and possible action to approve the extension of the March 13, 2020 Disaster Declaration for the City of La Porte, Texas, resulting from COVID-19 (novel coronavirus). [Corby Alexander, City Manager] Councilperson Gillett moved to approve the Extension of Disaster Declaration [extending the disaster declaration] issued by the Mayor on March 13, 2020, amended to continue until April 3, 2020, at midnight, unless renewed by the City Council, the motion was adopted, 6-0. 4. COUNCIL COMMENTS regarding matters appearing on the agenda; recognition of community members, city employees, and upcoming events; inquiry of staff regarding specific factual information or existing policies.
