The City Council of the City of La Porte met in a regular meeting on May 18, 2022,
at the City Hall Council Chambers, 604 West Fairmont Parkway, La Porte, Texas, at
5:00 p.m., with the following in attendance:
Councilpersons present: Louis Rigby, Brandon Lunsford, Mandi Williams, Chuck
Engelken, Bill Bentley, Thomas Garza
Councilpersons attending remotely: None
Councilpersons absent: Brent McCaulley, Robbie McLarrin, Jay Martin
Council -appointed officers present: Corby Alexander, City Manager; Lee
Woodward, City Secretary; Clark Askins, Assistant
City Attorney
CALL TO ORDER — Mayor Rigby called the meeting to order at 5:03 p.m.
1. CITIZEN COMMENT (Generally limited to five minutes per person; in accordance with
state law, the time may be reduced if there is a high number of speakers or other
considerations.)
There were no citizen comments.
2. ELECTION MATTERS
(a) Presentation, discussion, and possible action to adopt Ordinance 2022-3885,
canvassing the returns of the May 7, 2022, General and Special Elections, for
the election of a Councilperson At -Large Position A, a Councilperson District
4, and a Councilperson District 5, and approving or denying the following
proposition: "the reauthorization of the local sales and use tax in the City of
La Porte, Texas, at the rate of one-fourth of one percent to continue providing
revenue for maintenance and repair of municipal streets. The tax expires on
the fourth anniversary of the date of this election unless the imposition of
the tax is reauthorized". [Louis R. Rigby, Mayor]
Councilperson Engelken moved to adopt Ordinance 2022-3885, canvassing the
returns of the May 7, 2022, General and Special Elections, for the election of_a
Councilperson At -Large Position A, a Councilperson District 4, and a
Councilperson District 5, and approving or denying the following proposition: "the
reauthorization of the local sales and use tax in the City of La Porte, Texas, at the

declared the election of Brandon Lunsford as Councilperson At -Large A; Rick
Helton as Councilperson District 4; and Jay Martin as Councilperson District 5; the
motion was seconded by Councilperson Bentley; the motion was adopted, 6-0.
3. COUNCIL COMMENTS Hear announcements concerning matters appearing on
the agenda; items of community interest; and/or inquiries of staff regarding
specific factual information or existing policy from the Mayor, Councilmembers,
and City staff, for which no formal action will be discussed or taken.
There were no Council comments.
