HomeMy WebLinkAbout08-13-2024 CC minutesMINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LA PORTE Councilpersons Present: Rick Helton, Brandon Lunsford, Brent McCaulley, Mardi Williams, Chuck Engelken, Bill Bentley, Robert Guerra, Jay Martin, Robbie McLarrin Cou nci [persons Absent: None Council -appointed Officers Present: Corby Alexander, City Manager; Lee Woodward, City Secretary The City Council of the City of La Porte met in an adjourned meeting on August 13, 2024, at the City Hall Council Chambers, 604 West Fairmont Parkway, La Porte, Texas, at 6:00 p.m. to continue the regular session begun on Monday, August 12, 2024. 1. CALL TO ORDER - Mayor Helton called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m. Mayor Helton clarified that, with regard to item 5.d. last night, he had announced the motion to deny the rate increase as having been lost, although all had voted in favor. 3. CITIZEN COMMENT - (Generally limited to five minutes per person; in accordance with state law, the time may be reduced if there is a high number of speakers or other considerations.) There were no public comments. 6. STATUTORYAGENDA c. Fiscal Year 2024-25 Budget Workshop - Presentation, discussion, and possible action regarding the City of La Porte, Texas' Fiscal Year 2024-2025 Proposed Budget. [Corby Alexander, City Manager] Items 2, 4-6.b., and 10-11 were handled on Monday, August 12, 2024. Finance Director Michael Dolby provided a fund overview. Matt Hartleib discussed compensation considerations. Councilperson Williams asked that garbage truck personnel be increased by an additional grade higher in the proposed competitiveness -implementation options. Mr. Hartleib agreed to provide additional information. Department/division representatives provided updates on their budget proposals. 9. COUNCIL COMMENT Hear announcements concerning matters appearing on the agenda; items of community interest; and/or inquiries of staff regarding specific factual information or existing policy from the Mayor, Councilpersons, and City staff, for which no formal action will be discussed. Councilpersons urged consideration of employee compensation; commended the staff for their hard work; and expressed their appreciation of the presentation format. 12. ADJOURN
