HomeMy WebLinkAbout02-04-83 Civil Service Commission Meeting minutess MINUTES • CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION MEETING FEBRUARY 4, 1983 PRESENT: Keith Trainer, Weldon Randall, Jim Longnecker, Chief Freeman, Lt. La Fitte, and Mary Davis. NOTE: Prior to the meeting, Jim Longnecker was sworn in by the City Secretary, Betty Waters, as Commissioner, replacing Dexter Joyner who resigned November 17, 1982. The Meeting was called to order by Chairman Keith Trainer. The Director read the minutes of the January 13, 1983 meeting. Weldon made a motion to accept the minutes as read. Motion carried. Lt. LaFitte gave a presentation on the promotional tests for Sergeant and Lieutenant, which were developed by Wollack & Associates for TCLEOSE to offer, by rental, to 1269m cities. A lengthy discussion followed. Chief Freeman expressed a desire to give both the Sergeant and Lieutenant's exams no later than April - if the tests are approved by the Commission. Chairman Trainer made a motion to adopt the tests as presented. Weldon seconded the motion. Motion carried. • Study sources selected by the Commission were: Supervision of Police Personnel Police Criminal Justice and the Community Patrol Procedure: Operations & Management Fundamentals of Criminal Investigation The Commission requested that the Director purchase four sets of the test material for use by Officers who are eligible and wish to take the test. Administrative Reports: Chief Freeman went through the proposed amendments to Article 1269m pending in Legislature, with a short discussion on each amendment. Keith suggested that Commission study the proposed amendments, then reconvene after Chief Freeman returns from Austin, to discuss these proposals further.
