MINUTES OF THE DRAINAGE ANDFL FLOODING COMMITTEE MEETING
Ajo, 2021
The Drainage and Flooding Committee of the City of La Porte met on Monday,
May 10,
2021, at the City Hall Council Chambers, 604 West Fairmont Parkway, La
5:00 p.m. to consider the following items of business:

3. STATUTORY AGENDA
a. Presentation, discussion, and possible action to approve the minutes of the
April 12, 2021, meeting. [Chairman Martin]
b. Presentation, discussion, and possible action regarding Harris County's
recommended minimum drainage and floodplain standards. [Lorenzo Wingate,
Assistant Director of Public Works]
Lorenzo Wingate, Assistant Public Works Director, introduced Candyce Ward, Principal,
Cobb, Fendley, to provide a presentation on their evaluation of the new Harris County
Flood Control District (HCFCD) floodplain regulations. Chair Martin recommended the
report go to the full Council for further discussion.
c. Presentation, discussion, and possible action regarding an interlocal agreement

between the City of La Porte and the City of Pasadena related to land within the ETJ
of the respective cities. [Lorenzo Wingate, Assistant Director of Public Works]
Lorenzo Wingate, Assistant Public Works Director, provided an update since the inter -
local agreement was approved, noting the RFQ was advertised and responses were due
May 18.

d. Presentation, discussion, and possible action regarding the Harris County Flood
Control District's (HCFCD) and Harris County Precinct 2's current and future plans
related to flooding in the City of La Porte. [Lorenzo Wingate, Assistant Director of
Public Works]
Lorenzo Wingate, Assistant Public Works Director, permitted Jeremy Ratliff, HCFCD, to
provide an update on Brookglen, that the PER would be on the Commissioners Court
tomorrow. He announced two CDBG studies were bringing forward additional projects.
Member Engelken requested the mowing schedule be reviewed for overgrown lots at
Brookglen.
e. Presentation, discussion, and possible action regarding the status of current
drainage projects. [Lorenzo Wingate, Assistant Director of Public Works]
Mr. Wingate reminded the partnership projects with Harris County could be contingent on
adoption of the new floodplain regulations. He said the City will meet with HCFCD on.
Wednesday to get ahead on channel projects. Several projects, he noted, would be
initiated using top respondents from the RFQ, due May 18".
f. Presentation, discussion, and possible action to provide staff with direction, if
necessary, regarding additional drainage concerns. [Lorenzo Wingate, Assistant
Director of Public Works]
Lorenzo Wingate, Assistant Public Works Director, said there were no additional projects.
4. Set next meeting - The next meeting date was set for June 14, 2021.
