MINUTES - REGULAR MEETING
OF THE
LA PORTE FIRE CODE REVIEW COMMITTEE
MARCH 3- 1977
MEMBERS OF THE COMMITTEE PRESENT:
J.J. Meza, Joe Sease, D.R. McLaughlin, Jack Lockridge,
Royal Shepherd, Fred Westergren, Vic Taylor, J.M. Goodman,
Dennis Dunham and Rusty Shepherd.
Rusty Shepherd was representing Russell Shepherd.
MEMBERS OF THE COMMITTEE ABSENT:
Roy Groda, H. Carlos Smith and Joe Ligi.
PRESIDING: Jack Lockridge, Chairman

1. CALL TO ORDER = Jack Lockridge called the meeting to order.
2. OLD BUSINESS - Each member was given a packet, which contained
a city map, a copy of ordinance # 622, a copy of the three state
fire code laws on the books and Article # 1 of the city ordinance.
Mr. Joe Ligi, was picked to be the representative for the
chemical and petroleum industry.
3. NEW BUSINESS - There was a open discussion, on where the two
fire zones are now, and what problems there will be in changing
the zones.
Joe Sease recommended that all commercial property be in the
# 1 fire zone.
There was some questions, if this was legal, and what if any
thing could be excluded.
The secretary was directed by the chairman, to check on the
legality of Joe Sease's recommendation.
It was recommended by the committee that a person from the
zoning board, be ask to attend the meetings as a adviser.

New Business - Cond:
Motion by Dennis Dunham, to move the meeting time up to 7:OOPM,
Motion failed, no second.
Motion by Dennis Dunham, seconded by Fred Westergren, that
Mr. Al Steckman, city building inspector, be a committee
member. Motion carried by the following vote:
Ayes: All For
Nays: None
ADJOURNMENT - Motion by Fred Westergren, seconded by Dennis
Dunham, that the meeting adjourn. Motion carried by the
following vote:
Ayes: All For
Nays: None
The meeting adjourned at 9:OOPM
