OLD BUSINESS: The secretary was directed by the chairman at the
Septem er 1978, meeting to check into the legality of section
2.24. The secretary talked to the city's legal representative
Knox Askins, who had called State Fire Marshal's Office in Austin,
and was told by that office that the section dealing with the
authorities of the fire marshal was still curent, but the State
Fire Marshal's office in the near future was going to update
that and it would be beneficial to the committee at a later date
to check on the legality and a possible update of this section
in the future.
The secretary was also directed at that meeting to send a copy
and a letter to the Independent School District and ask for any
reply they may have, also to five different industries in the area

recived one letter, that being from the Upjohn Company with no comments
because they are outside the city limits of La Porte.

the committee approve the book as now written, and send it to the city's
