Motion by Delbert :calker to approve minutes as read.

Motion was made by Joe Sease, seconded by Delbert Walker to
delete these two divisions. The motion carried.

SEC. 31.59 Exit Details
(A) Number Types and Access to Exits
(1) In a one- or two-family dwelling or building
of unprotected wood frame construction used for foster
home purposes, every room used for sleeping, living, or
dining purposes shall have at least two means of egress,
at least one of which shall be a door or stairway pro-
viding a means of unobstructed travel to the outside of
the building at street or ground level. No room or space
shall be occupied for living or sleeping purposes which
is accessible only by a ladder, folding stairs or through
a trap door.

(2) Where children are located on a floor (basement)
below the floor of exit discharge, at least one exit shall
be provided directly to the outside at ground level. No
facility shall be located more than one story below the
ground.
(B) Doors
(1) Each door in a means of egress shall be not less than
28 inches wide.
(2) Every closet door latch shall be such that children
can open the door from inside the closet.
(3) Every bathroom door lock shall be designed to permit
the opening of the locked door from the outside in an emer-
gency and the opening device shall be readily accessible.
(C) Stairs
Every stairway shall comply at least with the minimum require-
ments for stairs, as described in the Life Safety Code, in
respect to caidth, risers, and treads and shall be maintained
free of items of storage.

DIVISION 6 FOSTER HOMES
SEC. 31.60 Protection
(A) Minimum Construction Standards
Each building used as a foster care home shall meet the
requirements of the La Porte Building Code and La Porte Fire
Code for the applicable class of residential construction.
(B) Interior Finish
Interior finish in occupied spaces in the home shall be
Class A, B, or C.
Motion was made by Delbert Walker, seconded by Mark Lewis
to accept. Motion carried.

SEC. 31.62 Extinguishers
At least a 2 3 4 lb. ABC portable fire extinguisher
shall be provided for the kitchen and cooking areas..

SEC. 31.63 Building Service Equipment
(A) Heating Equipment
(1) Unvented room heaters shall not be permitted.
Oil and gas fired room heaters shall be installed in
accordance with the La Porte Building Code. A guard
shall be provided to protect the children from hot
surfaces and open flames.
(2) No stove or combustion heater shall be so
located as to block escape in case of malfunctioning of
the stove or heater.
(B) Electrical Services
(1) Electrical wiring in new construction shall
be installed in accordance with the La Porte Electrical
Code.
(2) Ln~:existing buildings, the electrical wiring
shall be sized to provide for the load. Electrical
appliances shall be grounded in accordance with the
La Porte Electrical Code. Receptacles and outlets
serviced by extension cord-type wiring are prohibited.
(3) Special protective receptacle covers shall be
installed in all areas occupied by children in homes for
children under 5 years of age.
Motion made by Delbert Walker, seconded by Joe Sease to approve.
Motion carried.

ARTICLE 33 STORAGE OF COMBUSTIBLES
DIVISION 1 GENERAL
SEC. 33.1 Application of article provisions
The storage of combustibles and all related activities
thereof shall meet the minimum requirements of the N.F.P.A.
Standards, as adopted, in regards to Fire and Life Safety,
unless otherwise stated in this code.
Motion was made by Delbert Walker, seconded by Joe Sease, to
approve. The motion carried.

Motion was made by Joe Sease, seconded by Al Fields to delete
Article 33, Division 1, Sections 33.2 through 33.40; Article
33, Division 2; Article 33, Division 3; and Article 33, Divi-
sion 4; and Article 33, Division 5. The motion carried.

ARTICLE 36, DIVISION 1, SEC. 36.1 was discussed. Motion
was made by Joe Sease, seconded by Delbert Walker, to table
this Article for further study. The motion carried.
