Greg Yakim, Mark Williams, Ellis Ebarb, Al Fields, H. Carlos Smith, Jerry Hodge PRESIDING: Jack Owen 1. 2. CALL TO ORDER - The meeting was called to order by Jack Owen. READING OF THE MINUTES - The minutes of the previous meeting were read. Motion was made by Morris Rose, to approve the minutes as read. seconded by Paul Hickenbottom The motion carried unanimously. 3. ARTICLE 37 of the Fire Code was reviewed and discussed. Motion was made by Delbert Walker, seconded by Morris Rose, to approve. The motion carried unanimously. 4. All changes to the La Porte Fire Code were reviewed. 5. Motion was made by David Paulissen, seconded by Delbert Walker, to send the Fire Code Revision to Council for their approval. The motion carried unanimously. 6. There being no further business, motion was made by David Paulissen, seconded by Morris Rose, to adjourn. The motion carried unanimously. Respectfully submitted: Paul R. Broadway, including Spur 501, from Southern Pacific Railroad Tracks bounding on the North, South to D4cCabe Road one block on the West Side. Broadway from Avenue G to Avenue M, one block on the East Side. All the area from Avenue T South to McCabe Road bounded by Spur 501 on the East and Highway 146 on the West. All properties bounded on the East by Highway 146 and on the West by Twelfth Street from the Southern Pacific Railroad tracks on the North to McCabe Road on the South, inclusive, excluding from North H to Barbour's Cut, Eleventh Street to Twelfth Street. The property North of the mixmaster for Highway 146 and Highway 225 to the Northern city limits and Western City limits. The property South of the mixmaster for Highway 146 and Highway 225 to the Southern Pacific Railroad. All the property included in the Municipal Airport. The one-hundred foot wide strip on Underwood Road North of 6Vest Main and from Underwood Road East on West Main - the site of the proposed Meadowcrest Shopping Center. West Main from Farrington to the Southern Pacific Railroad tracks one block South of West Main. From the railroad tracks on Main Street to the Eastern City Limit, one block either side. Total area bounded by North G and North E from Eighth to First Streets . Total area bounded by North E to Madison from Eighth to Fifth Streets . CHANGED TO: ARTICLE 37. FIRE ZONES DIVISION 1. CLASS 2 FIRE ZONES Section 37.2 Definina Class 2 Fire Zones From North P Street to North H Street bounded by North Twelfth and the Southern Pacific Railroad Tracks, total area. North H Street to Barbour's Cut bounded by North Fourteenth and the Southern Pacific Railroad tracks, total area. Barbour's Cut to Polk Street, bounded by Sixteenth and the Southern Pacific Railroad tracks, total area. West A to West H Streets bounded by South Sixteenth to the Southern Pacific Railroad tracks, total area. North Ninth Street from the Southern Pacific Railroad tracks to Main Street, one block East of Highway 146. South Ninth Street from Main to West Fairmont Parkway from Main to West E Street, one block east; West E Street to West G Street, one and one-half blocks east; West G Street to Fairmont Parkway, two blocks East. South Eighth Street to West Fairmont Parkway, one-half block East. From West Fairmont Parkway South to West T Street, one block East of Highway 146. West K Street to McCabe Road bounded by South Twelfth and the Southern Pacific Railroad tracks, total area. CHANGED T0: ARTICLE 37. FIRE ZONES DIVISION 2. CLASS 3 FIRE ZONES Section 37.3 Defining Class 3 Fire Zones All properties zoned residential shall be in Fire Zone 3. ARTICLE 37. FIRE ZONES DIVISION 3. CLASS 3 FIRE ZONES Section 37.3 Defining Class 3 Fire Zones DELETED. CITY OF LA PORTE INTER-OFFICE MEMORANDUM July 8, 1982 T0: Jack Owen, Fire Code Review Committee Chairman FROM: Paul R. Hickenbottom, Fire Marshal SUBJECT: La Porte Fire Code, Article 37 I recommend that Article 37 of the La Porte Fire Code remain as approved, subject to being deleted if the following section is added to the new proposed Planning and Zoning Ordinance. "NO OCCUPANCY DEFINED IN THE LA PORTE BUILDING CODE AS A HAZARDOUS OCCUPANCY BE ALLOWED ON PROPERTY ZONED COMMERCIAL, UNLESS BY SPECIAL USE PERMIT OR THE PROPERTY IS REZONED INDUSTRIAL." When the new proposed Planning and Zoning Ordinance is adopted, and if the abovementioned section is included, I recommend that the Fire Code Review Committee delete Article 37 of the La Porte Fire Code because of duplication.
