Meeting was opened by David Brady, Chairman at 12:06 PM
ITEM N0. 2: A motion was madovey Dhe nminDtesa of ntheeCJuned 23, 81988
Wheeler to app
meeting. Minutes were approved as presented.
ITEM N0. ~: STATUS OF GOLF COURSE: Alex reported that things was
getting better and better every day. Alex said there
were a couple of things that hadn't been done yet, but
these were next on the list. There is still some
cleaning up that needs to be done and some pipe to put
in. The grass is doing real well and things are coming
together.
Alex said he didn't see any problem in getting the golf
course open on time. He said the main thing that
concerned him in getting the course open was making sure
the bunkers were cleaned up and review the areas that
need some work. Another thing was making sure they
would be prepared for the traffic (getting them on the
tees/carts, etc.)
Things tQ be done:
greens and fairways - need some work done that would
take approximately 3 days.
roughs - still need cleaning up, this will take about 1
week
•
bunkers - will take a little more time - approximately 3
weeks on these
Alex said about 30-40 days would be a good time frame to
get these things done and the course ready for opening.

BOARD MEETING
Next Joel went over the Schedule of Events for the golf
course. He said by doing this item by item the Board
could understand where the course was related to
completion. (See attached schedule with dates).
CULVERTS
To be set on Wharton-Weems Road on July 22, 1988
FENCING
Dr. Wheeler stated that he did not care for chain link
fencing at all (his own personal opinion) and thought it
was ugly. He asked what would be wrong with putting a
good quality wire fence up, something that would keep
any vehicles out. Dr. Wheeler said you could plant some
type of shrubs along the fence and this type of fencing
would be a lot less expensive and look much nicer.
Dennis Dunham asked who had recommended the 6'
galvanized chain link fence? Alex said he had
recommended the 6' chain link fence, he said he felt a
4' fence was not high enough to serve the purpose.
Dr. Tolles said that he disagreed with Dr. Wheeler on
• the type of fencing that could be used. He said he
felt that chain link fence would look good (his personal
opinion). D:~. Tolles said he felt like this golf course
could have more vandalism than some others and the chain
link fence would be more deterrent than a wire fence.
David said his only comment on the fencing was that
regardless what type of fence we used, that over by the
baseball fields at LCB Park, there should be barbed wire
on top.
Dennis Dunham asked Joel if the Board would get some
feedback on the 6' chain link fence before City Council
approved it. Joel assured him that they would.
PLATTING OF GOLF COURSE
Schedule for July 22 by H. Carlos Smith
gFnwoOD SI NS
David asked if they could meet together and have the
drawings for the sign placement and the purchasers who
wanted to attend could. Doing it this way no one could
complain as to why their sign was at No. 13 instead of
No. 14 and so forth. The drawing will be done at the
August meeting. Signs will arrived around the 20th of
• July. Signs for the Pro Shop will arrived around the
30th of July.

MAINTENANCE AND CART STORAGE AREA
The tight grade, tack coat, chip seal and construction
of the ramps has been done. Cart storage facilities
will be complete by monday. The carts are in town and
we should start receiving them on monday, the 18th.
The fuel storage tanks will go to Council for approva)_
on July 25th. The only fuel that can be stored above
ground will be the diesel, other will be in underground
tank.
Joel told the Board that staff is hoping to have
completion of the maintenance building about the 15th of
August.
PARKING LOT AND ENTRANCE ROAD
The contract with Allgood is complete and has been
finalized. Installation of the gas line is in the
process now and should be complete Friday, 15th. The
entrance gates will be installed when the gas line is
completed. Cable will be installed later in the summer.
CLUBHOUSE
Joel informed the Board that there had been an
error/oversight on the plans for the clubhouse. The
drawings did not reflect the proper method of attaching
the trusses to the building. The staff met with the
architect and engineer on Tuesday and have resolved the
error. Completion of the clubhouse is expected around
the middle of August. Sitework will go to Council for
consideration on July 25th, with construction to start
around the 15th of August.
CONCESSIONAIRE
Of all the RFP's sent out for bid, there were only three
(3) responses. The Velvet Door, Country Club Catering
and Concessions Management Service. The Board was
concerned as to how a percentage would work, since the
clubhouse is small and will not accommodate a large
crowd. Dennis Dunham wanted to know if any of the
offerors were knowledgeable in the skill of handling a
golf course people. Joel replied that one offeror
• currently is the concessionaire at Clear Lake and has
approximately 10 years experience.

TARGET DATE FOR OPENING
September 1, 1988 is still the target date for opening
the golf course for play.
Joel informed the Board that Alex's contract would be going
before City Council on tYie 25th of July. After the approval
of the contract, Alex will be able to open the driving range.
Alex requested that the next meeting be set for August 4,
1988 since we are getting close to the opening. The Advisory
Board agreed with this date.
Joel told the Board that the staff had been visiting with two
(2) billboard companies. The first one was Patrick Median,
which has committed to the City to provide us with
complimentary signs which will be a community service of
theirs. The only cost the City would have would be putting
together the art work and silk screen. Black and white, the
cost would be $350.00, full color would be $1,000.00.
At this point in the meeting an opening date was again
• discussed. They asked Alex what a realistic date for opening
the course could be. Alex said the only concern he had was
the site work. Alex asked Joel what he felt was a good date
on the site work, Joel said he felt like the middle of August
was a safe date. If this is the case, Alex said the opening
could be set for August 27, 1988. The Board said they
thought we should have a V.I.P. opening on Friday, 26th and
the general opening on Saturday, 27th. The date of August
27th was set for the public opening by the Board and Staff,
unless something unforeseen should happen.
There being no further business the meeting adjourned at 1:00 PM
