RE: Permit Application of W. A. Silvey, Jr.
Dear Ms. Peoples:
The La Porte City Council voted on August 3, 1983, to
oppose the application for a permit to construct a water well
within La Porte's extraterritorial jurisdiction. La Porte's
Director of Public Works, Mr. Jerry Hodge, and Water Super-
intendent Mr. Luther Maxey will represent the City on Tuesday,
August 16, 1983.
The area to be served by the well application can be
served by the City of La Porte water system. The area is
presently being considered for annexation.
The La Porte Area Water Authority has engineering studies
currently being performed to assist in deciding how best to
diminish the use of ground water and provide water service
from surface water supplies. The granting of a new permit for
a ground water well will be contrary to the intent of the City
of La Porte and the La Porte Area Water Authority.
