AD HOC COMMITTEE MEETING

The New City Hall Ad Hoc Committee of the City of La Porte met on Thursday, July 13,
2023, at the City Hall Council Chambers, 604 West Fairmont Parkway, La Porte, Texas, at
3:30 p.m. to consider the following items of business:
Committee Members present: Louis Rigby, Bill Bentley
Committee Members attending remotely: None
Committee Members absent: Brent McCaulley
Council -appointed officers present: Corby Alexander, City Manager; Lee Woodward, City
Secretary
CALL TO ORDER —.Member Rigby called the meeting to order at 3:30 p m
CITIZEN COMMENT (Generally limited to five minutes per person, in accordance with state
law, the time may be reduced if there is a high number of speakers or other considerations.)
Virginia Pierson -Turner and Peggy Antone spoke in opposition to the proposed new City Hall.
3. STATUTORY AGENDA
a. Presentation, discussion, and possible action to approve the minutes of the
February 13, 2023, meeting. [Councilperson McCaulley]
Member Bentley moved to approve the minutes of the February 13, 2023, meeting; the
motion was seconded by Member Rigby; the motion was adopted, 2-0
b. Presentation, discussion, and possible action to provide a recommendation to City
Council for the new City Hall project. [Corby Alexander, City Manager]
City Manager Alexander said staff would recommend the Construction Manager -at -Risk
process over competitive sealed proposals. Member Bentley moved that the project move
forward using the Construction Manager -at -Risk; the motion was seconded by Member
Rigby; the motion was adopted, 2-0.
4. COMMITTEE COMMENT
Members expressed their appreciation of those who made public comments, noted that the
City has nothing planned that will be prevented by the proposed projects, noted the City has
completed and plans to complete projects as large and larger, and that future construction will
only become more ex�qp;�ke.
