Elsie Moore presided: Commission members present were; Ewell A. Brigham, Lois Compton, Ruth Huddleston, hrs. Preston, Ho E. Meeka, Elsie Moore, George Norris, Welter Roberson, ]3~. 0. Laird, and I: Leon Smith; also present was City commissioner Tom Qsburn. The S-eoretary read the minutes of the March 7, 1961 meeting and Walter Roberson made a motion seconded by H. E'. Meeks that they be approved as read. Motion carried. The Secretary read the minutes of the April 12, 1961 meeting and Lois Compton made a motion seconded by George Norris that they be approved as read. Mo$ion carried. The Secretary read the minutes of the April 19, )961 meeting. ~Irs. Moore pointed out that this meeting was held due to the misunderstandings in handling violations to the Zoning Ordinance: Mro I. Leon Smith made a motion seconded by Walter Roberson th at the minutes be approved as read. ~:otion carried. '~ 1 , 1 <,a61 Ewell A® Brigham raised a question on the appointment of Mr. V. M. • Calhoun to the Zoning Commission. A check of the minutes of the City Commission indicated that his appointment was recorded only as a member of the Board of Adjustment ® Imo'. Osb~n indicated that it had been the intent of the City Commission to appoint ~°© Calhoun to the Zoning Commission also. Mrs. Moore instructed the Secretary to requeBt the City Commission by letter to clarify Mro Calhoun"s appointment, Since Mr. C~alhoun's appointment was questioned the approval of the Minutes of the September 6, 1961 Zoning Commission was delayed since Mr. Calhoun was required to make a quorum. gn order that the recommendations that were made at the September 69 1969 meeting might not be delayed, Mr. Walter Roberson made a motion seconded by IKr. I Leon Smith that we accept and approve the recom~;endations recorded in the Minutes of the September 6, 1961 Zoning Commission meeting. Motion carried with Ewell A. Brigham opposing. • 1~ix°s. Moore read letters of resignation from Mr. R. Ao Mc Glendon and Mra~. Eugenie Miller. Mrs. Moore requested the Secretary to write them letters expressing our appreciation for thei~° efforts. Mro ®aburn reported that the known violations of the Zoning ®rdinance were in the hands of the City Attorney. The City Attorney is proceding with the required legal stepso The Chairman, Mrs. Moore, appointed the following committee to draft By®L'aws for the Zoning Commission: Chairman, Mrs® Lois Compton, Mro I peon Smith, D. ®o %,aird, and Eugene Meeks; It was pointed out that with the resignation of 1~`r. R. A. McClendon tre needs to elect a new Mice-Chairman. Ewell A. Brigham nominated Mro George Norrisg the nomination was seconded by Walter Roberson. 1 Leon Smith made a motion seconded by Walter Roberson that Mr. Norris be elected by acclaimation. Motion carried. Walter Roberson made a motion seconded by George Norris to adjourn.
