F~LANNING AND ZONING COMMISSION, LA PORTE, TEXAS
DECEMBER 10, 1974
6:30 P.M.
MEMBERS OF THE COMMISSION PRESENT: Walter Roberson, Lois Compton,
J. H. Smith, William S. Love and William R. Shedelbower.
MEMBERS OF THE COMMISSION ABSENT: None
OTHER CITY OFFICIALS PRESENT: Margie Goyen, City Clerk

1. CALL TO ORDER - The meeting was called to order by
Chairman Roberson.

2. APPROVAL OF MINUTES - Motion by Jim Smith, seconded by
Lois Compton to approve the minutes of the previous meeting.
Motion carried by the following vote:
AYES: Lois Compton, J. H. Smith, Wm. Love and Wm. Shedelbower.
NAYS: None.

3. DISCUSS POSSIBLE RELOCATION OF CHEMLIME - Mr. Fred Westergren
and Mr. Bruce Angel were present. Mr. Fred Westergren was
asked to make a presentation on the possible relocation of
Chemlime.
Mr. Westergren stated that the proposed location would be
Outlot 1, Nebraska Syndicate, located at Crestlane and 16th
Street. Ms. Westergren presented a preliminary drawing of
the proposed facilities and and explained the proposed operation
would be a very clean, lime dust free operation. He further
stated he would be happy to show anyone the proposed location
at any time. He further stated that all necessary agencies,
including the E.P.A., Water Quality and Air Quality Boards

would have to give approval before any actual work could
be started.
He asked the Commission to recommend a Special Use Permit
be given for the relocation of Chemlime on Outlot 1, Nebraska
Syndicate.
After further discussion, motion by J. H. Smith, seconded
by Lois Compton to recommend calling a joint public hearing
to consider a Special Use Permit for Outlot 1, Nebraska
Syndicate, to allow the relocation of Chemlime Corporation,
pending approval of the EPA, Texas Water Quality Board and
the Texas Air Quality Board.
MOTION Carried by the following vote:
AYES: Lois Compton, J. H. Smith, Wm. Love and Wm. Shedelbower.
NAYS: None.

4. CONSIDER RECLASSIFICATION OF LARGE TRACT OF PROPERTY - After
a brief discussion, motion by Lois Compton, seconded by
J. H. Smith to recommend calling a joint public hearing to
consider reclassifying a large tract of property in the
northern area of the City from Residential to Commercial.
Motion carried by the following vote:
AYES: Lois Compton, J. H. Smith, Wm. Love and Wm. Shedelbower.
NAYS: None.

5. ADJOURNMENT - Motion by Lois Compton, seconded by Jim Smith
that the meeting adjourn. Motion carried by the following
vote:
AYES: Lois Compton, J. H. Smith, Wm. Love and Wm. Shedelbower.
NAYS: None.
