MEMBERS OF THE COMMISSION PRESENT: Charles Christensen, Kerry R. Beverly, Eugene Ybarra. MEMBERS OF THE COMMISSION ABSENT: Wm. R. Shedelbower, J. C. Hebert. OTHERS PRESENT: R. L. Galloway, representing himself. Rex Carr and Alvin Simmons, representing Metalock Corporation. Evert Talbot and William Teague, representing Bay-Houston Towing Company. CALL TO ORDER - The meeting was called to order by Chairman Charles Christensen at 7:15 P.M.• + + + 2. CONSIDER REQUEST OF R. L. GALLOWAY FOR VARIANCE - The request by Mr. R. L. Galloway for a variance to erect a fence around the front of his property was approved. + + + 3. CONSIDER ZONING CLASSIFICATION OF METALOCK CORPORATION ® Rex Carr and Alvin Simmons, representing Metalock Corporation, in regard to their inquiry as to the suitability of Block 652, La Porte, for a commercial enterprise, the repair of recipro- cating engines with light sand blasting. Members of the Commission felt this was acceptable for this area. + + + Called Meeting 7/29/76 2 4. CONSIDER REZONING REQUEST OF ROBERT A. CHASE AND HORACE MANN - Horace Mann and Bud Sweeny, attended to request the Zoning Commission to consider rezoning Block 980, Lots 1 thru 16 and Block 432, Lots 1 thru 32, La Porte. Mr. Mann's business is primarily the handling of containers or the dispersal of the contents. The property will 'contain a small building for handling the goods. Members present decided that the business was acceptable for that type of commerce. The P & Z Commission declined to rezone the area. + + + 5. CONSIDER 'REZ'ONING REQUEST OF BAY-HOUSTON TOWING COMPANY - FAIRMONT PARK PARKWAY - Evert Talbot and William Teague, re- presenting Bay-Houston Towing Company and Reagent Chemical and Research, Incorporated, requested rezoning of the area bounded by 346.51 acres facing the South side of Fairmont Parkway, 300 feet along the East right-of-way line of the Southern Pacific track, as the West boundary, a line running East-West paralleling Fairmont Parkway as the Southern o boundary, and a line running North-South paralleling the Southern Pacific tracks, to facilitate a trucking operation. The P & Z Commission decided to set .up a building set back line on that property which parallels Fairmont Parkway, extending 100 feet in depth, of which at least 25 feet of the land adjacent to the parkway be a planted shield area. The remaining 75 feet may be used as parking. The P & Z Commission further decided a special use permit be granted to Reagent Chemical and Research Incorporated for the remaining 200 feet of the property. + + + 6.
