MEMBERS OF THE COMMI~S~SION PRESENT: Charles Christensen, Chairman; W. R. Shedelbower, Eugene Ybarra. MEMBERS OF THE COMMISSION ABSENT: J. C. Hebert, Kerry Beverly. OTHERS PRESENT: Eddie Gray and Mineola Walker. PRESIDING: Charles Christensen, Chairman. + + + • 1. CALL TO ORDER - The meeting was called to order at 7:10 P.M. by Chairman Christensen. + + + 2. CONSIDER APPROVING PRELIMINARY PLAT OF FAIRMONT PARK, SECTION 4. Mr. Gray was present to answer any questions concerning the preliminary plat of Fairmont Park, Section 4. R. Shedelbower raised the question concerning the dedication of a park site. A letter from the president of the Fairmont Park Homes Association was submitted and read. Motion by Eugene Ybarra, seconded by R. Shedelbower to approve the preliminary plot plan for Section 4 of Fairmont Park subject to agreement concerning new park ordinance. Motion carried. + + + • v • ® Called Meeting 6/8/77 2 3. DISCUSS THE N~EED~ FOR' A MOB'ILE' HOME PARK - MINEOLA WALKER - Mineola Walker was present to discuss the need for a federal housing program. She stated that the Mayor's secretary called her this morning to attend this meeting and discuss La Porte's housing problems. Mr. Christensen told her she should have gone to the Housing Board. Mrs. Walker requested the City to make an effort to obtain an extension of the medical services from Harris County in La Porte. Mrs. Walker further discussed the possibility of using some of her land for a trailer park located on Broadway. This Commission would like to know when the Housing Board meets. Mineola Walker would like to be invited to the next meeting. + + + •_ 4. ANY OTHER •BU~S'INES'S THAT MAY C'OME' BEFORE THE COMMISSION - The Commission members discussed the variances that were turned down by the Planning and Zoning Commission and approved by the City Commission. The Zoning Commission had denied approval of these variances and would have appreciated an opportunity to express our reasoning for denial. If in the future we are not going to be afforded this opportunity, we respectfully request these variances not be brought before us. The City Clerk was left a memo requesting the last paragraph be typed and submitted to be read at the June 9, 1977, Com- mission Meeting. w. R. POST OFFICE BOX 1192 • LA PORTE, TEXAS 77571 PHONE 471-5818 June 7. 1977 Zoning & Planning Commission LaPorte City Council Sirs: I understand that my previous appearance before this Commission was not reflected in the minutes along with my comments regarding the proposed plat for Fairmont Park West, Section 2. • Therefore, the following comments on the proposed plat for Section 4, Fairmont Park are submitted in written form: 1) This Section was the subject of an Annexation Agree- ment submitted to the Home Association which was rejected. The Commission should be aware of the impact of this decision. The City will be responsible for garbage collection, enforcement of deed restrictions, and all other major services provided by the Association. 2) The Fairmont Park swimming pool facilities will not be available to Section 4 residents. 3) No Park Area is designated in the Section 4 plat. 4) The Association will not be reviewing plans for con- formance with restrictions. 5) Access to Section 4 should be from Spencer Highway not Farrington Blvd. as~this will result in excessive traffic flow on Belfast and Carlow. .
