OF THE
PLANNING & ZONING COMMISSION
LA PORTE, TEXAS - OCTOBER 25, 1977
7:00 P.M.
MEMBERS OF THE PLANNING & ZONING COMMISSION PRESENT:
Charles Christensen, Chairman; J. C. Hebert, Eugene Ybarra,
W. R. Shedelbower, Joe Ligi.
MEMBERS ABSENT: None.
OTHERS PRESENT: Fred Westergren, J. E. Cook and Family.
PRESIDING: Charles Christensen, Chairman.

1. CALL TO ORDER - Meeting was called to order at 7:12 P.M.

2. APPROVAL OF MINUTES - J. C. Hebert made the motion to
accept the minutes as written. Eugene Ybarra seconded,
motion passed.

3. PUBLIC HEARING - CONSIDER VARIANCE REQUEST TO ALLOW
CONSTRUCTION OF A MULTI-FAMILY DWELLING ON LOTS 20 AND
21, BLOCK 34, BEACH PARK ADDITION - Charles Christensen
asked if anyone was opposed to granting a variance to
Mr. Edward P. Wolf to build a multi-family dwelling on
Lots 20 and 21, Block 34, Beach Park Addition. No one
opposed and no one spoke for.

4. CONSIDER REQUEST OF J. E. COOK TO REZONE LOTS 26 THROUGH
LOTS 32, BLOCK 1129, TOWN OF LA PORTE, FROM RESIDENTIAL TO
MOBILE HOME PARK - !~Ir. J. E. Cook addressed the Commission
concerning rezoning his property for a mobile home park to accom-
modate a mobile home for his deaf son. Each member of the
Commission voiced his opinion to Mr. Cook.
A motion was made by J. C. Hebert to deny the request by Mr.
Cook to rezone Lots 26 through Lots 32, Block 1129, Town of
La Porte, seconded by Eugene Ybarra, motion carried.

5. CONSIDER REQUEST OF WILLIAM F. JONES, JR.

RESIDENTIAL TO COMMERCIAL - Fred Westergren spoke to the
Commission in behalf of W. F. Jones request.
J. C. Hebert made the motion to deny the request by W. F.
• Jones to rezone the east one-half of Blocks 832 and 825
and Lots 17 through 29, Block 796, Town of La Porte from
Residential to Commercial; seconded W. R. Shedelbower,
motion carried.

6. Charles Christensen told the Commission members about what
the City plans to do about park development in the City.
It was pointed out that the Commission had not received
figures on the sewage plant capacity.
Again the Commission would like to have information
concerning property marked as zoned for mobile homes, north
west of La Porte Terrace. We would like to know if it is
still zoned for mobile homes and if it is, what can we as
the Planning & Zoning Commission do to have it rezoned.
