Box 1115 La Porte., Texas 77571 Dear Sirs: We are planning to remodel the house that we own which is next door to us, and'iri_which our. daughter. -and, son-in-law are now living: This house is located on lot 24 and the south half of lot 25 in block number 278 in La Porte. On October 20, 1977, We talked to the City Building Inspector concern- ing obtaining a permit allowing -us to add eight feet across the entire back of the house, along with some repairs to the house. He would not agree to issue us a permit due to the fact that the proposed construct- ion was in variance with his interpretation of the present city building code. The house is located three feet iiisidemthe property line. The property adjacent to ours belongs to our sister and brother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. R. I. Hebel, and they have'no objections to the proposed construction. •'• .` There are no adjacent buildings that our construction will conflict with. We have their complete approval to do our remodeling and addition to the house as it is in need of repairs, and detracts from the neighborhood, thus to their property also. To sum up the reason for this letter, we will need a variance granted to us so that we -may add the•eight feet -'across the -back of the house. The additional eight feet will provide much needed closet space, and additional storage in the kitchen to make it more compatable with modern living - We are making an effort to stay with the architectoral design of the time when the house was originally built. f ; When, and if, we receive a variance, our architect, Mr. Allen Thayer, will secure the necessary buildiiig`pL'rmit from the City Inspector, and will at that time submit a copy of the plans. We.,respectfully request your speedy approval of a variance.,,--so-that we may ,procedd with our - plans on this project. , r ( Sine ly, % 7Ak1./ PART TWO DISTRICT REGULATIONS ARTICLE THIRTEEN: ZONING DISTRICT REGULATIONS SECTIONii-100 GENERALRPOUTREMENTS AND PROVISIONS 13:-101 The regulations applying specifically t o use, buildings, bulk, 'commercial, zoning districts and premises within residential and each zoning dis- this Article.
