HomeMy WebLinkAbout02-18-1993 Public Hearing and Regular Meeting of the La Porte Planning and Zoning Commission• • MINUTES PLANNING & ZONING COMMISSION MEETING FEBRUARY 18, 1993 Members Present: Chairman Betty Waters, Commissioners Dottie Kaminski, Inge Browder, Wayne Anderson, Howard Ebow, Eugene Edmonds Members Absent: None City Staff Present: Planning Director Chuck Harrington, Assistant City Manager John Joerns, Assistant City Attorney John Armstrong, Planning Secretary Peggy L.ee ' Others Present: I. CALL TO ORDER Meeting was called to order by Chairman Waters at 7:06 PM. • II. APPROVE MINUTES OF THE JANUARY 21, 1993 PUBLIC HEARING AND REGULAR MEETING A motion was made by Inge Browder and seconded by Dottie Kaminski to approve the minutes as submitted. All were in favor and the motion passed. III. CONSIDER PRELIMINARY PLAT APPROVAL OF THE CORONET ESTATES SUBDIVISION LOCATED ON ROBINSON ROAD AT NORTH "P" STREET. SUBDIVISION IS TO BE PLATTED FROM A 50.30 ACRE TRACT WHICH IS COMPRISED FROM LA PORTE OUTLOTS 354; 355; 356; 385; 386; AND PORTIONS OF LOTS 353; 357; 384. Mr. Harrington addressed the Commission. Upon review of the Coronet Estates Subdivision plat for compliance with City Ordinances, staff has noted several items which need to be addressed prior to the granting of final approval. These items are outlined in the Staff Report of February 11, 1993. Item IX of the staff report deals with the Development Ordinance requirement for street lighting within new subdivisions. Staff feels that the established guidelines being utilized currently may not be appropriate for rural subdivisions. SUBDIVISION IS TO BE PLATTED FROM A 31.92 ACRE TRACT WHICH IS COMPRISED OF LA PORTE OUTLOTS 374; 375; 366 AND PORTIONS OF LOTS 365 AND 376. • Mr. Harrington addressed the Commission. He stated that this is the property that at one time was being developed as Meadow Park Section II; more recently, Briargrove Park Subdivision. Since preliminary plat approval had formerly been granted, that approval will be superseded by the current action being taken by the Commission. Upon review of the Denim & Diamonds Subdivision plat for compliance with City Ordinances, staff has noted several items which need to be addressed prior to the granting of final approval. These items are outlined in the Staff Report of February 11, 1993. Item I requires the phrase "Laws of the State of Texas" be removed from the preliminary and final plats. STAFF REPORTS Mr. Harrington requested a Special Meeting be held on February 25, 1993 at 6:00 PM to act on the final plats of the Denim & Diamonds and Coronet Estates Subdivisions. There was a consensus among staff to attend this meeting. VI. ADJOURN A motion to adjourn was made by Eugene Edmonds. Chairman Waters declared the meeting duly adjourned at 6:30 PM.
