change prior to the next meeting. Lee Alien recommended that
each organization be notified before the next meeting to access
the interest in the Association and who is interested in being
represented.
CONSIDERATION OF PREVIOUS BUSINESS
President Lee Alien asked group for any old business. None was

DISCUSSIONS
Tim O'Connor talked about the need for better communications
between the organizations and the Parks and Recreation
Department. He asked that each organization give the Parks and
Recreation Department first chance at solving problems before
approaching City Hall. He used the example of changing the Pinto
field from grass to dirt after the field had been irrigated for
grass, therefore using material and labor that was not needed.
Billy Haynes responded with how the city has done a fine job on
the fields and the irrigation designed for grass will still be
great for the dirt field. The Pinto league will maintain the
dirt infield. Pat Bell would like to have a form or whatever is
needed to get the Girls softball complex done and ready on time.
Sylvia Simms read her letter to the Association requesting basic
care of the softball fields. Tim O'Connor discussed the budget
deadline that the Parks and Recreation Department must meet and
advised each organization to submit a request including field
requirement materials, specs., equipment, etc. for the Fiscal 90-
91 year no later than May 17, 1990 (One week before next meeting)
It was decided upon at this time to have the next meeting on May
24, 1990 and all request are due no later than this meeting. Tim
O'Connor distributed copies of practice field layout and talked
about the scheduling of fields for baseball and softball in La
Porte.
David Hyde requested that the softball and baseball associations
please notify him in advance for the use of Field #3 for practice
use and to follow his department procedures for its use. He also
notified them that fields #1 and #2 are off limits to the public
for practice.
CONSIDERATION OF NEW BUSINESS
Cecile Paschal would like to get on a schedule for mulching the
Rodeo Arena. Bert Clark advised her that this would be taken
care of this summer. She also requested minor repair work on the
two gates at the arena. Tim O'Connor opened discussion on
covering the arena at an approximate cost of $20,000.00. Rex
Carr said that the Rodeo Association was estimating it at about
$150,000.00. The Rodeo Association also requested at this time
that the lights at arena be adjusted. The baseball and softball
also made these requests at this time. Bert Clark said that a
bucket truck was at the baseball fields on March 25, 1990 but it
started raining and that they would make a round as soon as it
dries out. The Little League said they had received a 6 foot
backstop and would like for it to be extended to 8 foot. Tim
O'Connor and Bert Clark scheduled a "walk -thru" meeting on April
4th at 3:30 with the Softball association and on April 5th at
10:00 A.M. with the Baseball association.
