Member of Wrecker Committee Present: Director of Planning Guy Rankin, City Secretary Sue Lenes, Police Chief Bobby Powell, Police Lt. Aaron Corrales Others Present: Assistant City Attorney John Armstrong, and Mike Gordon representing Les Marks Chevrolet -Mazda APPROVE MINUTES OF PUBLIC HEARING AND SPECIAL CALLED REGULAR MEETING OF THE LA PORTE WRECKER COMMITTEE MAY 1, 1996 Motion was made by Lt. Aaron Corrales to approve the minutes of May 1, 1996, as presented. Second by Guy Rankin. A correction was made by Assistant City Attorney John Armstrong to clarify the Assistant City Attorney is not a member of the Wrecker Committee. The correction to the minutes was made for the official record. The motion then carried, 3 ayes and 0 nays. Ayes: Police Lt. Aaron Corrales, City Secretary Sue Lenes, and Director of Planning Guy Rankin Nays: None CONSIDER TRANSFER OF WRECKER E-TAG FROM LES MARKS CHEVROLET, DBA HUMMER WRECKER SERVICE, OWNER RICHARD B. MORRIS, TO LES MARKS CHEVROLET, DBA DeWALT TOWING, OWNER TIM DeWALT Mike Gordon, representing Les Marks Chevrolet, spoke regarding Les Marks request to transfer wrecker service from Hummer Wrecker Service to DeWalt Towing. Mr. Gordon reported this request is being made in order to carry out representation for Les Marks Chevrolet for E-Tag towing service on the Police Department rotation list in the City of La Porte, Texas. CONSIDER RECOMMENDATION OR OTHER ACTION BY THE WRECKER COMMITTEE OF THE CITY OF LA PORTE Planning Director Guy Rankin called for a recommendation from the Wrecker Committee for the transfer of the E-Tag for Les Marks Chevrolet from Hummer Wrecker Service to DeWalt Towing. Aaron Corrales to transfer Les Marks Chevrolet E-Tag from Hummer Wrecker Service to DeWalt Towing. Second by Planning Director Guy Rankin. The motion carried, 3 ayes and 0 nays. Ayes: Police Lt. Aaron Corrales, City Secretary Sue Lenes, Director of Planning Guy Rankin Nays: None S. STAFF REPORTS Director of Planning Guy Rankin reported the Wrecker Committee will look into the completion of a new ordinance by January 1, 1997, that will meet all State and Federal regulations regarding towing service. Mr. Rankin asked if the committee members had any further reports or recommendations to be brought before this meeting. Police Chief Bobby Powell stated, "When the transfer papers are submitted, the proper fees paid, and the inspection of the wrecker is completed, then DeWalt Towing will be placed on the rotation list at the Police Department". Director of Planning Guy Rankin stated, "The transfer papers are in tact, fees have been paid, and after inspection of the wrecker by the Police Department, this process will be considered complete". 6.
