MINUTES
OF THE
LA PORTE ZONING BOARD OF ADJUSTMENT
JUNE 26, 1982
1. The meeting was called to order by Chairperson Sidney Grant
at 7:00 P.M.
Members of the Board Present: Sidney Grant, Linda Mains,
John Albanese, Bill Thompson
Others Present: Dwight Hemphill, Scott Fleming
2. The minutes of the Regular Meeting of the La Porte Zoning
Board of Adjustment held May 27, 1982, were considered for
approval.
A motion was made by Albanese and seconded by Thompson to
approve the minutes as presented. The motion carried, 4 ayes
and 0 nays.
3. The Board considered a request for variance to the required
side building line as set forth by the Zoning Ordinance
No. 780, page 18, Section 13-204(2):
"Side yard: The minimum side yard shall be five (5) feet
or ten percent of the lot, whichever is greater; however,
lots less than fifty (50) feet in width shall provide a
minimum side yard of three (3) feet, except that on corner
lots, the side yard on the side street side shall be a mini-
mum of five (5) feet. An accessory building in a rear yard
shall not be closer than three (3) feet to a side lot line
The request comes from Dwight Hemphill and Scott Fleming,
412 Westminister, League City, Texas.
Hemphill and Fleming reviewed the project they ahve under-
taken. The house they propose to move to Block 202, Lots
12 and 13 on Virginia Street has been inspected and approved
by the Code Enforcement Department. The lots have been
surveyed by Carlos Smith survey crew. They discussed the
surrounding neighborhood.
A motion was made by Bill Thompson, seconded by John Albanese,
to grant a 1 foot variance for each side of the house to be
moved onto Block 202, lots 12 and 13 on Virginia Street, making
the side building line 4 feet in this particular instance.
The motion carried, 4 ayes and 0 nays.

4. There being no further business to come before the Board,
the meeting was duly adjourned at 7:30 P.M.

Dear Ms. Waters,
I am planning to move a house to La Porte onto two lots on Virginia St.
(Block 202, Lots 12 and 13).
The house width is 41.8' which means the 5' side easement would have to
be encroached by .9' on each side.
I consequently would like to be placed on the agenda of the Planning
and Zoning Board of Adjustments as soon as possible to discuss this proposed
variance.

Dear Mr. Marks:
The Board of Adjustment met on November 17, 1981, to
consider your request for a variance to construct a carport
and porch cover at 705 South Nugent.
This letter will serve as the Board's approval of that
request. We do hereby grant a variance to permit a carport
and porch cover at 705 South Nugent. A building permit should
be acquired within 10 days.
