The meeting was called to order by Chairman Andy Wilson at 7:00 P.M. Members of the Board Present: Chairman Andy Wilson, Members Ronnie Rowell, Linda Mains, Charlie Young Members of the Board Absent: Robert Swanagan Sidney Grant, Lawrence Farias, Members of City Staff Present: David paulissen, Chief Building Official; John Armstrong, Assistant City Attorney Others Present: Mr. and Mrs. Cooper; Don Grisham of Gulf Southern Engineering 2. The Board considered the minutes of the meeting held June 23, 1983. Chief Building Official David paulissen pointed out that the correct title for Lamar Hollaway should be Building Inspector. Motion was made by Rowell, second by Mains, that the minutes of the June 23, 1983, meeting be approved as corrected. The motion carried, 4 ayes and 0 nays. Ayes: Nays: Rowell, Mains, Young and Wilson None 3. The Board considered the minutes of the meeting held Septem- ber 29, 1983. Motion was made by Rowell, second by Mains, that the minutes of the September 29, 1983, meeting be approved as presented. The motion carried, 4 ayes and 0 nays. Ayes: Nays: Rowell, Mains, Young and Wilson None 4. The Board considered the request of Don Grisham, Gulf Southern Engineering, to allow two homes in Meadow Park Subdivision, Section I, to project into building setback area. -- Mr. Grisham appeared before the Board and stated that pulte Homes has purchased the subdivision for development, and that Ad,~~t: _ ~two of their homes will not fit on the lots without having a~ ~~Yi~~le variaRc~ to the setback line. He showed a plat of the area and pointed out the lots involved. Q, since they are so small, and that they recommend the special exception be granted. Motion was made by Mains, second by Rowell, to grant the special exception to the building setback line. The motion carried, 4 ayes and 0 nays. Ayes: Nays: Rowell, Mains, Young and Wilson None 5. The Board considered the request of Mrs. Jim Cooper, 11806 Plainbrook Drive, to allow a structure to be built less than 25 feet to the road. i4~ Mrs. Cooper appeare1fthe Board to request a carport be allowed to be built on her property that will encroach approximately 8 feet, leaving 17 feet to the road. She explained that this is a professionally installed carport and that it is in an extremely rural area of Lomax, with only a few houses. Mr. paulissen stated that the definition of "Hardship" in the ~eubgivioi~n ordinance, states that the situation must be unique -~ q to the land. He recommends granting the request due to the rural area and the large lots involvedr and feels it would cause no problems with the rest of the neighborhood. Motion was made by Rowell, second by Young, to grant the special exception to Mrs. Jim Cooper and allow a structure to be built less than 25 feet to the road. The motion carried, 4 ayes and o nays. Ayes: Nays: Rowell, Mains, Young and Wilson None 6. There being no further business to be brought before the Board, the meeting was duly adjourned at 7:11 P.M.
