OF THE CITY OF LA PORTE

The City of La Porte Drainage and Flooding Committee met on August 11, 2025,
at the City Hall Council chamber, 604 West Fairmont Parkway,
La Porte, Texas, at 5:00 p.m.
1. CALL TO ORDER - Chair Martin called the meeting to order at 5:02 p.m.
2. CITIZEN COMMENT - There were no comments.
3. Presentation, discussion, and possible action to approve the minutes of the
July 14, 2025, meeting. [Lee Woodward, City Secretary]
Member Engelken moved to approve the minutes of the July 14, 2025, meeting; the
minutes were adopted as presented, 2-0. (Member Williams and City Manager
Alexander arrived following this vote.)
4. 100-ACRE-FOOT POND - Presentation, discussion, and possible action
regarding the status of the 100-acre-foot detention pond project near the
Pasadena Convention Center and Brookglen Subdivision, as established in
amended interlocal agreement between the City of La Porte and the City of
Pasadena. [Ray Mayo, Director of Public Works]
Mr. Mayo provided an update.
5. HCFCD PROJECT UPDATE - Presentation, discussion, and possible action
regarding Harris County Flood Control District (HCFCD) and Harris County
Precinct 2 current and future plans related to Flooding in the City of La Porte.

Mr. Mayo provided an update on the HCFCD de -silting of the F101 and F101-06
channels in Lomax. Member Williams said one of the obstructions on the project is
that along the Harris County right-of-way is a properly built, inspected, and permitted
garage that HCFCD is seeking to have moved.
6. CURRENT DRAINAGE PROJECT UPDATE - Presentation, discussion, and
possible action regarding the status of current drainage projects. [Ray Mayo,
Director of Public Works]
Jameson Appel said the Bayside Terrace Project had a substantial completion walk in
July and the contractor has been working on the resulting punch list. Regarding
Brookwood, he said the Venture cut -through is open, drainage work is proceeding,
LPISD and the City have coordinated bus routes, and that staff is staying in touch with
residents and addressing their concerns.
7. ADDITIONAL DRAINAGE CONCERNS - Presentation, discussion, and possible
action to provide administrative staff of the City with direction, if necessary,
regarding additional drainage concerns. [Ray Mayo, Director of Public Works]
There were no additional concerns.
8. SET NEXT MEETING -The next meeting was set for September 8.
9. COMMITTEE COMMENT - The committee expressed its appreciation to staff.
10.A ' JOU - ithout objection, Chair Martin adjourned the meeting at 5:28 p.m.
