NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARINGOF THE LA PORTE CITY COUNCIL ON PROPOSED VARIANCE FROM CHAPTER 6 ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES Notice is hereby given that the La Porte Planning and Zoning Commission will conduct a public hearing at 6:00 P.M. on the 12th day of August 2024, at City Hall, 604 West Fairmont Parkway, La Porte, Texas, in accordance with the provisions in Section 106-171 of the City of La Porte Code of Ordinances and the provisions of the Texas Local Govern-ment Code. The purpose of the hearing is to receive public input on a request by De-Ja Brews & Gifts, LLC, applicant, to approve a variance from Chapter 6 of the City Code of Ordinances, from the 300-foot distance requirement from a school to sell alcohol. The site for the proposed variance is located at 1105 S. Broadway, on a 1.75-acre site, legally described as Lots 8-11, Lots 14-29, Tracts 7, 12, 13 & 30, and Tracts B & C (Partly Abandoned 16 ft Alleys), Block 1110, La Porte, Harris County, Texas. Following the public hearing, the City Council will act upon the public hearing item and conduct other matters pertaining to the Commission. Citizens wishing to address the City Council pro or con during the public hearing are re-quired to sign in before the meeting is convened. In compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act, The City of La Porte will provide for reasonable accommodations for persons attending public meetings. Notice is hereby given that the La Porte Planning and Zoning Commission will conduct a public hearing at 6:00 P.M. on the 12th day of August 2024, at City Hall, 604 West Fairmont Parkway, La Porte, Texas, in accordance with the provisions in Section 106-171 of the City of La Porte Code of Ordinances and the provisions of the Texas Local Govern-ment Code. The purpose of the hearing is to receive public input on SCUP Request 2024-0002, a re-quest by Garden of Eden Floral & Gifts, LLC, applicant, to amend SCUP 20-91000002 to allow alcohol sales at the existing floral shop and tearoom located at 10515 Spencer High-way, on a 0.75-acre tract of land legally described as a portion of Lots 3 & 4, and a portion of Tract 5, Block 2, Payne W J Survey, La Porte, Texas.

Recreation Center Phase II Remodel: Pursuant to Texas Local Government Code Section 505.160 notice is hereby given that the La Porte Development Corporation Board (Type B Board) of the City of La Porte, Texas has proposed an official project related to recreational or community facilities, in an amount not to exceed $2,000,000.00. The purpose of the project is to fund year two of two for Phase II of the remodel of the La Porte Recreation and Fitness Center.
Wave Pool Enhancements: Pursuant to Texas Local Government Code Section 505.160 notice is hereby given that the La Porte Development Corporation Board (Type B Board) of the City of La Porte, Texas has proposed an official project related to recreational or com-munity facilities, in an amount not to exceed $500,000.00. The purpose of this project is to fund future enhancements at the wave pool in Little Cedar Bayou Park.
Enhancement Grant: Pursuant to Texas Local Government Code Section 505.160 notice is hereby given that the La Porte Development Corporation Board (Type B Board) of the City of La Porte, Texas has proposed an official project related to infrastructure, site im-provements and related improvements to promote or develop new or expanded business enterprises, by providing matching grants to businesses located anywhere in La Porte, in an amount not to exceed $250,000.00. The purpose of this project is to consider eligible improvements to properties including façade rehabilitation/enhancement, beautification projects, new awnings, canopies, porches, signage, and parking lot improvements.
Brookglen Restrooms & Parking Lot: Pursuant to Texas Local Government Code Section 505.160 notice is hereby given that the La Porte Development Corporation Board (Type B Board) of the City of La Porte, Texas has proposed an official project related to recreational or community facilities, in an amount not to exceed $250,000.00. The purpose of the project is to renovate restrooms and the parking lot at Brookglen Park.
Little Cedar Bayou Nature Trails: Pursuant to Texas Local Government Code Section 505.160 notice is hereby given that the La Porte Development Corporation Board (Type B Board) of the City of La Porte, Texas has proposed an official project related to recreational or community facilities, in an amount not to exceed $350,000.00. The purpose of the proj-ect is to replace two pedestrian bridges, the pier, and the bird blind on Little Cedar Bayou Nature Trail.
Five Points Plaza Improvements: Pursuant to Texas Local Government Code Section 505.160 notice is hereby given that the La Porte Development Corporation Board (Type B Board) of the City of La Porte, Texas has proposed an official project related to recreational or community facilities, in an amount not to exceed $550,000.00. The purpose of the project is to install a lighted splashpad and play area at Five Points Plaza.
Golf Course Gateway and Event Center Design: Pursuant to Texas Local Government Code Section 505.160 notice is hereby given that the La Porte Development Corporation Board (Type B Board) of the City of La Porte, Texas has proposed an official project related to recreational or community facilities, in an amount not to exceed $200,000.00. The purpose of the project is to fund the design of a golf course gateway and multi-use event center.
Disc Golf Course: Pursuant to Texas Local Government Code Section 505.160 notice is hereby given that the La Porte Development Corporation Board (Type B Board) of the City of La Porte, Texas has proposed an official project related to recreational or community facilities, in an amount not to exceed $75,000.00. The purpose of the project is to install a disc golf course at Northwest Park.
Lomax Arena Improvements: Pursuant to Texas Local Government Code Section 505.160 notice is hereby given that the La Porte Development Corporation Board (Type B Board) of the City of La Porte, Texas has proposed an official project related to recreational or community facilities, in an amount not to exceed $1,000,000.00. The purpose of the project is to expand the Lomax Arena to include a warm-up area for barrel racers, replace the an-nouncer’s booth, add additional skirting, and repair the parking lot.
Northwest Park Pedestrian Bridge: Pursuant to Texas Local Government Code Section 505.160 notice is hereby given that the La Porte Development Corporation Board (Type B Board) of the City of La Porte, Texas has proposed an official project related to recreational or community facilities, in an amount not to exceed $750,000.00. The purpose of the project is to install a pedestrian bridge at Northwest Park to connect the main park to the overflow parking lot.
Master Trails Partnership: Pursuant to Texas Local Government Code Section 505.160 no-tice is hereby given that the La Porte Development Corporation Board (Type B Board) of the City of La Porte, Texas has proposed an official project related to recreational or com-munity facilities, in an amount not to exceed $300,000.00. The purpose of the project is to fund a feasibility study of the City’s master trails plan in partnership with Harris County Pct. 2, in preparation for construction of a park trail system.
Special Populations Organized Recreation Therapy (SPORT) Building Roof and Building Improvements: Pursuant to Texas Local Government Code Section 505.160 notice is here-by given that the La Porte Development Corporation Board (Type B Board) of the City of La Porte, Texas has proposed an official project related to recreational or community facili-ties, in an amount not to exceed $125,000.00. The purpose of the project is to replace the roof and perform other enhancements to the SPORT building.
Splash Pad Transitions: Pursuant to Texas Local Government Code Section 505.160 notice is hereby given that the La Porte Development Corporation Board (Type B Board) of the City of La Porte, Texas has proposed an official project related to recreational or community facilities, in an amount not to exceed $300,000.00. The purpose of the project is to transition the existing splash pads to a flow through system, completely upgrade electronics on one splash pad, and renovate fixtures on one splash pad.
Electric Vehicle Charging Station: Pursuant to Texas Local Government Code Section 505.160 notice is hereby given that the La Porte Development Corporation Board (Type B Board) of the City of La Porte, Texas has proposed an official project related to recreational or community facilities, in an amount not to exceed $37,000.00. The purpose of the project is to install an electric vehicle charging station on real property owned by the La Porte De-velopment Corporation and used to provide automobile parking for adjacent tourist, enter-tainment and public park purposes.
In accordance with Texas Local Government Code 505.160 the public has the right to gath-er a petition to object to the proposed projects by requiring an election. The petition must request that an election be held before the project is undertaken and must be signed by more than ten percent (10%) of the registered voters of the City of La Porte. The petition must be received by the City of La Porte not later than the sixtieth (60th) day after publication of this notice.

The purpose of the hearing is to receive public input on Special Conditional Use Permit SCUP-2024-0001, a request by Michael Stone/applicant on behalf of Richard and Lannie Lee/owners, to approve SCUP-2024-0001 to allow for the development of a single-family home including approximately 5,540 square feet and up to 6,238 square feet within the Planned Unit Development (PUD) zoning district on an approximately 11.8 acre- tract of land located at 911 Mc Cabe Rd., and legally described as TR 5D, ABS 30 W P Harris, Har-ris County, Texas.
