Fair Housing, It’s the Law
To promote fair housing practices, the City of La Porte encourages potential homeowners and renters to be aware of their rights under the National Fair Housing Law. Title VIII of the Civil Rights Act of 1968, as amended, prohibits discrimination against any person on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, disability, familial status or national origin in the sale or rental of units in the housing market. Para promover prácticas de vivienda justa, la Ciudad de La Porte alienta a los posibles propietarios de viviendas e inquilinos a que conozcan sus derechos conforme a la Ley Na-cional de Vivienda Justa.
El Título VIII de la Ley de Derechos Civiles de 1968, según enmendada, prohíbe la dis-criminación contra cualquier persona por motivos de raza, color, religión, sexo, discapaci-dad, estado familiar u origen nacional en la venta o alquiler de unidades en el mercado de la vivienda.

Notice 1:Policy of Nondiscrimination on the Basis of Disability
The City of La Porte does not discriminate on the basis of disability in the admission or access to, or employment in, its federally assisted programs or activities. Lee Woodward, City Secretary, has been designated to coordinate compliance with the nondiscrimination requirements contained in the Department of Housing and Urban Development’s (HUD) regulations implementing Section 504 (24 CFR Part 8).
Notice 2:Citizen Participation & Grievance Procedures Notice (required)
The City of La Porte has adopted complaint and grievance procedures regarding its Com-munity Development Block Grant – Mitigation (CDBG-MIT) program. Citizens may obtain a copy of these written procedures at 604 West Fairmont Parkway La Porte, TX 77571 between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. Citizens may also request the procedures be mailed to them by calling. Lee Woodward, City Sec-retary, at (281) 471-5020. These procedures outline the steps for a citizen to follow if s/he wishes to file a complaint or grievance about CDBG-MIT activities.
A person who has a complaint or grievance about any services or activities with respect to the CDBG-MIT project, may during regular business hours submit such complaint or grievance, in writing to the City of La Porte at 604 West Fairmont Parkway La Porte, TX 77571 or may call (281) 471-5020. The City of La Porte will make every effort to respond fully to such complaints within fifteen (15) working days where practicable.

Notice of Proposed Projects of the La Porte Development Corporation Board (Type B)
Bay Forest Golf Course Fencing Project: Pursuant to Texas Local Government Code Sec-tion 505.160 notice is hereby given that the La Porte Development Corporation Board (Type B Board) of the City of La Porte, Texas has proposed an official project related to recreational or community facilities, in an amount not to exceed $475,000.00. The purpose of this project is to fund the installation of new fencing on the perimeter of the Bay Forest Golf Course.
Bay Forest Golf Course Pond Remediation Project: Pursuant to Texas Local Government Code Section 505.160 notice is hereby given that the La Porte Development Corporation Board (Type B Board) of the City of La Porte, Texas has proposed an official project re-lated to recreational or community facilities, in an amount not to exceed $150,000.00. The purpose of the project is to remediate the Bay Forest Golf Course pond depths and capacity back to their original state.
Bay Forest Golf Course Land Acquisition: Pursuant to Texas Local Government Code Section 505.160 notice is hereby given that the La Porte Development Corporation Board (Type B Board) of the City of La Porte, Texas has proposed an official project related to recreational or community facilities, in an amount not to exceed $350,000.00. The purpose of this project is for the purchase of a parcel of land adjacent to the entrance to the Bay For-est Golf Course for future development of a new club house and events center.
Fairmont Park Ball Fields Restroom: Pursuant to Texas Local Government Code Section 505.160 notice is hereby given that the La Porte Development Corporation Board (Type B Board) of the City of La Porte, Texas has proposed an official project related to recreational or community facilities, in an amount not to exceed $350,000.00. This project will demol-ish, remove and replace the existing bathroom and concession structure at the Fairmont Park Ball Fields.
Signage Project – Phase III: Pursuant to Texas Local Government Code Section 505.160 notice is hereby given that the La Porte Development Corporation Board (Type B Board) of the City of La Porte, Texas has proposed an official project related to recreational or com-munity facilities, in an amount not to exceed $350,000.00. The purpose of the project is to rebrand and enhance City of La Porte gateway entrance signs, facility marquees, facility signage, and park signage.
Wave Pool Enhancements: Pursuant to Texas Local Government Code Section 505.160 notice is hereby given that the La Porte Development Corporation Board (Type B Board) of the City of La Porte, Texas has proposed an official project related to recreational or com-munity facilities, in an amount not to exceed $500,000.00. The purpose of the project is to fund future enhancements at the wave pool in Little Cedar Bayou Park.
Recreation Center Phase II Design: Pursuant to Texas Local Government Code Section 505.160 notice is hereby given that the La Porte Development Corporation Board (Type B Board) of the City of La Porte, Texas has proposed an official project related to recreational or community facilities, in an amount not to exceed $250,000.00. The purpose of the proj-ect is to fund the design of Phase II of the remodel of the La Porte Recreation and Fitness Center.
In accordance with Texas Local Government Code 505.160 the public has the right to gath-er a petition to object to the proposed projects by requiring an election. The petition must request that an election be held before the project is undertaken and must be signed by more than ten percent (10%) of the registered voters of the City of La Porte. The petition must be received by the City of La Porte not later than the sixtieth (60th) day after publication of this notice.
