The Wrecker Committee of the City of La Porte met in a called meeting on Tuesday, January 5, 2021, in the City Hall Council Chamber, 604 West Fairmont Parkway, La Porte, Texas, at 3:00 p.m., with the following in attendance: Committee Members present: Teresa Evans, Planning Director, City Manager’s Designee; Lee
Woodward, City Secretary
Committee members attending remotely: Lt. Lance Cook, LPPD Police Chief’s Designee
Staff Members Present: Clark Askins, Assistant City Attorney; Maria Pena, Planning Department
Coordinator
Call to order – Clark Askins presided and called the meeting to order at 3:06 p.m.
1. CITIZEN COMMENT (Generally limited to five minutes per person; in accordance with state law, the
time may be reduced if there is a high number of speakers or other considerations.)
No comments were offered.
2. Presentation, discussion, and possible action to approve the March 28, 2017, meeting minutes.
Member Woodward moved to approve the minutes of the March 28, 2017; the motion was adopted.
3. PUBLIC HEARING
The public hearing was opened by Mr. Askins at 3:10 p.m. Joe Davis of Priority Towing, Inc. confirmed
submission of application materials. The Committee informed Mr. Davis that a new application and
approval from the Committee would be necessary for additional emergency auto wrecker permits. Mr.
Askins closed the public hearing at 3:17 p.m.
4. Presentation, discussion, and possible action regarding issuance of emergency auto wrecker
permits for Priority Towing, Inc. LLC.
Member Woodward moved to approve issuance of eight emergency auto wrecker permits; the motion
was adopted.
5. Presentation, discussion, and possible action to provide direction to the Assistant City Attorney
regarding proposed amendments to tow truck and wrecker regulations contained in the City of
La Porte Code of Ordinances.
Member Woodward moved that the Committee direct the Assistant City Attorney to review the tow truck
and wrecker regulations contained in the City of La Porte Code of Ordinance to provide an updated
version for the Committee’s review and possible presentation to the City Council for adoption; the
motion was adopted.
Adjourn - Without objection, Mr. Askins adjourned the meeting at 3:26 p.m.
