Ed Swensen (LPPD Police Chief’s designee); Patrice Fogarty, City Secretary; Mark Huber; Building Official (City Manager’s designee) Staff present: Clark Askins, Assistant City Attorney; Peggy Lee, Office Coordinator, Planning 1. Call to order. Mark Huber called the meeting to order at 3:00 p.m. 2. Roll call of members 3. Consider approval of the August 23, 2016, meeting minutes. Patrice Fogarty moved to approve the August 23, 2016, meeting minutes; the motion was adopted. 4. Conduct public hearing to receive input on a request by Industrial Transportation and Towing LLC for issuance of an emergency auto wrecker permit under Section 78-297 of the La Porte Code of Ordinances. A. Open public hearing - The hearing was opened at 3:02 p.m. B. Staff comments - No comments were offered. C. Public comments - No comments were offered. D. Close public hearing – The hearing was closed at 3:03 p.m. 5. Consider approval or other action regarding issuance of an emergency auto wrecker permit for Industrial Transportation and Towing LLC. Patrice Fogarty moved to approve issuing an emergency auto wrecker permit for Industrial Transportation and Towing, LLC; the motion was adopted. 6. Discuss and consider possible action to give direction to the city attorney to draft proposed amendments to Tow Truck and Wrecker Regulations contained in the City of La Porte Code of Ordinances. Patrice Fogarty moved to approve a comprehensive review of the codes that regulate auto wreckers. The Committee adopted the motion, providing that input was solicited from the wrecker companies and noting that Patrice Fogarty and Clark Askins would then develop a revision for Committee consideration. 7. Administrative Reports. No administrative reports were presented. 8. Committee comments on matters appearing on agenda or inquiry of staff regarding specific factual information or existing policy. No comments were offered. 9. Adjourn. Without objection, the meeting was adjourned at 3:17 p.m.
