HomeMy WebLinkAbout1-29-2026 Firefighters Pension agendaFIREFIGHTERS PENSION BOARD OF TRUSTEES MEETING AGENDA Thursday, January 29, 2026, 5:00 p.m. Notice is hereby given of a meeting of the Firefighters Pension Board of Trustees to be held on January 29, 2026, at the City of La Porte Fire Department Administration offices, 125 South 3rd Street, La Porte, Texas, for the purpose of considering the following agenda items. All agenda items are subject to action. 1. CALL TO ORDER 2. CITIZEN COMMENT (Generally limited to five minutes per person; in accordance with state law, the time may be reduced if there is a high number of speakers or other considerations.) 3. MINUTES APPROVAL Approve minutes from the October 8, 2025, meeting. 4. REVIEW OF DEPARTMENT PENSION ROSTER a. Acceptance of certification(s) of physical fitness from new members: N/A b. Assignment of new members to support duties in the absence of a certification of physical fitness N/A c. Termination of inactive members: Aylin Reyes, Joshua Blair, George McNeil, Andrew Hackett, Chandi Moore, Alejandro Robles, Garrison Zabrowski, Luis Garza, Jesica Desham, Terry Lugo, Kim Lane, Todd Thomas, Joseph Lopez, Dennis Andrejczak, Daniel Engles, Caden Holleman, Juan Nunez, Michael Welch, Julius Davila, Lorenzo Farias 5. CERTIFICATION OF PENSION ROSTER Review of pension Annual Report 6. DISCUSSION AND CONSIDERATION OF BENEFIT CLAIMS a. Retirement Benefit Claim(s) for: Julio Cruz, Mike Distefano, Richard Laird, David Stiefel b. Off -Duty Death Benefit Claim(s) for: n/a c. Survivor Benefit Claim(s) for: n/a d. Disability Benefit Claim(s) for: n/a 7. OTHER BUSINESS Discussion of accepting the shift model as an additional set of standards for pension benefit that was passed in the fire Department Constitution. Accepting Jeff Suggs as Secretary as Richard Laird has resigned from fire department. Accepting resignation from Andy Smith will be replaced by Richard Laird as firefighter trustee. 8. ADJOURN If, during the course of the meeting and discussion of any items covered by this notice, the Firefighters Pension Board of Trustees determines that a closed or executive session is required, then such closed meeting will be held as authorized by Texas Government Code, Chapter 551. If a closed or executive session is held, the Board will reconvene in open session in order to take action, if necessary, on the items addressed during executive session. Persons with disabilities who plan to attend this meeting and who may need auxiliary aids or services are requested to contact the Fire Department office (281-470-5183), three working days prior to the meeting for appropriate arrangements. Pursuant to Texas Government Code Sec. 551.127, on a regular, non -emergency basis, members may attend and participate in the meeting remotely by video conference. Should that occur, a quorum of the members will be physically present at the location noted above on this agenda. I, the undersigned, do hereby certify that a copy of the January 29, 2026, Firefighters Pension Board of Trustees agenda was posted on the City Hall bulletin board, a place convenient and readily accessible to the general public at all times, and to the City's website, www.LaPorteTX.gov, in compliance with Chapter 551, Texas Government Code.
