HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution 2026-07_Harris County Precinct 2 partnership programRESOLUTION NO. 2026-07 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LA PORTE, TEXAS, DESIGNATING THE CITY MANAGER TO ACT ON BEHALF OF THE CITY OF LA PORTE, TEXAS, FOR THE PURPOSE OF PARTICIPATING IN THE HARRIS COUNTY PRECINCT 2 PARTNERSHIP PROGRAM OF HARRIS COUNTY PRECINCT 2 FOR CONSTRUCTION OF THE INTERSECTION OF SPENCER HIGHWAY AND 16TH STREET; CERTIFYING THAT THE CITY OF LA PORTE, TEXAS, IS ELIGIBLE TO RECEIVE PROGRAM ASSISTANCE; CERTIFYING THAT THE CITY OF LA PORTE, TEXAS, MATCHING SHARE IS READILY AVAILABLE. WHEREAS, the City of La Porte, Texas, is a city with residents who are also constituents of Harris County Precinct 2; and WHEREAS, both entities share the goal of improving the experiences of their shared constituents living in La Porte, Texas, and Harris County Precinct 2; and WHEREAS, the construction of the intersection of Spencer Highway and 16th Street is critical infrastructure that serves the shared goals of La Porte and Harris County Precinct 2; NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LA PORTE, TEXAS, that the City of La Porte, Texas, commits to submitting a partnership application with Harris County Precinct 2 for the Construction of the intersection of Spencer Highway and 16th Street and commits to funding of $2,091,635 in this goal. Section 1. The City of La Porte hereby certifies that it is eligible to receive assistance under the Harris County Precinct 2 Partnership Program, and that notice of the application has been posted according to local public hearing requirements. Section 2. The City of La Porte, Texas, hereby commits to funding the required match. Section 3. The City of La Porte, Texas, hereby authorizes and directs the City Manager to act for the City of La Porte, Texas, in dealing with Harris County Precinct 2 for the purposes of the Harris County Precinct 2 Partnership Program, and the City Manager is hereby officially designated as the representative in this regard. Section 4, The City of La Porte, Texas, hereby approves the City Manager to execute all documents concerning the project and specifically authorizes the City Manager to make application to Harris County Precinct 2 concerning the Construction of the intersection of Spencer Highway and 16th Street. Sections, This resolution shall be in effect from and after its passage and approval. PASSED AND APPROVED this the 9th day of February 2026.
