The Facilities Naming Committee of the City of La Porte met on
April 29, 2026, at the City Hall Council Chambers,
604 West Fairmont Parkway, La Porte, Texas, at 8:00 a.m.
1. CALL TO ORDER - Mayor Helton called the meeting to order at 8;03 a.m.
2. CITIZEN COMMENT
Pauline Lewis' granddaughter Nakia Moore, daughter Betty Moore, and son David
Lewis spoke in support of a naming/renaming.
3. Approve the minutes of the December 8, 2025, meeting of the Facilities Naming
Committee. [Lee Woodward, City Secretary/PIO]
Member McCaulley moved to approve the minutes of the Facilities Naming
Committee; Member Lunsford seconded the motion; the motion was adopted, 3-0.
4. Presentation, discussion, and possible action on an application requesting
recognition of Ms. Pauline Lewis.
Member Helton moved to recommend to the City Council that the plaza in front of the
new City Hall be named the Pauline Lewis Community Plaza; Member McCaulley
seconded the motion; the motion was adopted, 3-0.
