AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LA PORTE, TEXAS, APPROVING
AND ADOPTING THE BUDGET FOR THE CITY OF LA PORTE, TEXAS, FOR THE PERIOD OF
OCTOBER 1, 2026, THROUGH SEPTEMBER 30, 2027; FINDING THAT ALL THINGS
REQUISITE AND NECESSARY HAVE BEEN DONE IN PREPARATION AND PRESENTMENT
OF SAID BUDGET; FINDING COMPLIANCE WITH THE OPEN MEETINGS LAW; AND
PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF
WHEREAS , the Charter of the City of La Porte , Texas , and the Statutes of the State of Texas require that an
annual budget for operating the municipal government of the City of La Porte , Texas, be prepared and
presented to the City Council of the City of La Porte , Texas , prior to the beginning of the fiscal year of said
City , and that a public hearing be held prior to the adoption of said budget; and
WHEREAS , the proposed budget of the City of La Porte , Texas , for the fiscal year October 1, 2026 , through
September 30, 2027 , (the "Budget" herein) was filed in the office of the City Secretary on July 27 , 2026 , and
has heretofore been presented to the City Council and due deliberation had thereon , and a public hearing
scheduled to held before the La Pote City Council on September 14 , 2026 , at 7:00 P.M. was duly advertised
on Wednesday , September 2 , 2026 ; and
WHEREAS , at the September 14 , 2026 , public hearing on the proposed Budget , and in accordance with City
of La Porte , Texas , Charter Section 4.03 , all interested persons were given an opportunity to be heard for or
against the estimates or any item in said Budget, and after which said public hearing was concluded on the
said September 14 , 2026 date; and
WHEREAS , the City Council of the City of La Porte , Texas , has con sidered the proposed Budget and has
made such changes therein as in the judgement of the City Council were warranted and in the best interest
of the citizens and taxpayers of the City of La Porte , Texas.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LA PORTE,
TEXAS:
SECTION 1: That the facts and matters set forth in the preamble of this ordinance are hereby found to the
true and correct.
SECTION 2: The City Council finds that all things requisite and necessary to the adoption of said Budget
have been performed as required by the La Porte Charter and state law .
SECTION 3: That the Budget for the City of La Porte , Texas, now before the said City Council for
consideration, a complete copy of which is on file with the City Secretary and incorporated hereto by
reference , is hereby approved and adopted as the Budget for the said City of La Porte , Texas, for the period
of October 1, 2026 , through September 30 , 2027 , having received the favorable votes of at least a majority
of all members of the whole council.
SECTION 4. In accordance with Section 4.05 of the Charter of the City of La Porte , Texas, from the effective
date of the budget a) the several amounts stated therein as propo sed expenditures shall be and become
appropriated to the several object s and purposes therein named , and 2) the amount stated therein as the
amount to be raised by property tax shall constitute a determination of the amount of the levy for the purposes
of the city , in the corresponding tax ye ar.
SECTION 5: The City Council officially finds , determines , recite s and declare s that a sufficient written
notice of the date , hour , place and subject of this meeting of the City Council was posted at a place convenient
to the public at the City Hall of the City for the time required by law preceding this meeting, as required by
the Open Meetings Law , Chapter 551 , Texas Government Code; and that this meeting has been open to the
public as required by law at all times during which this Ordinance and the subject matter thereof has been
discussed , considered and formally acted upon. The City Council further ratifies , approves and confirms
such written notice and the contents and posting thereof.
SECTION 6: This ordinance shall be in effect from and after its passage and approval.
