RESOLUTION NO. 2015- <br /> A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LA PORTE, <br /> TEXAS, AUTHORIZING THE POLICE OFFICER BODY CAMERA PROJECT <br /> BE ACQUIRED THROUGH A GRANT FOR THE 2015-2016 FISCAL YEAR; <br /> FINDING COMPLIANCE WITH THE OPEN MEETINGS LAW; AND <br /> PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF. <br /> WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of La Porte finds it in the best interest <br /> of the citizens of LaPorte that the Police Officer Body Camera Project be acquired <br /> through a grant for the 2015-2016 fiscal year. This grant will aid the City and Police <br /> Department in obtaining critical equipment and software to document encounters and <br /> interactions with citizens. <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF <br /> THE CITY OF LA PORTE: <br /> Section 1. The City of La Porte authorizes the Police Officer Body Camera Project <br /> be acquired through a grant for the 2015-2016 fiscal year, and approves submission of the <br /> grant application via a law enforcement grant to the Office of the Governor, Criminal <br /> Justice Division. <br /> Section 2. The City of La.Porte agrees that in the event of loss or misuse of any <br /> Criminal Justice Division grant funds, such grant funds will be returned to the Criminal <br /> Justice Division in full. <br /> Section 3. The City of La Porte agrees that it will appropriate any matching funds in <br /> support of the grant, if applicable. <br /> Section 4. The City of La Porte hereby designates the City Manager as the grantee's <br /> authorized official, who is given the power to apply for, accept, reject, alter or terminate <br /> the grant on behalf of the City of La Porte. <br /> Section 5. The City Council officially finds, determines, recites and declares that a <br /> sufficient written notice of the date, hour, place and subject of this meeting of the City <br /> Council is posted at a place convenient to the public at the City Hall of the City for the <br /> time required by law preceding this meeting, as required by Chapter 551, Texas <br /> Government Code; and that this meeting has been open to the public as required by law at <br /> all times during which this Resolution and the subject matter thereof has been discussed, <br /> considered and formally acted upon. The City Council further ratifies, approves and <br /> confirms such written notice and the contents and posting thereof. <br /> Section 6. This Resolution shall be effective upon its passage and approval. <br />
