HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolutions from 911 11'" l"- ~ I 10.... ~m RESOLUTION WHEREAS, the First Annual 9-1-1 Benefit Golf Tournament was held at the Bay Forest Golf Course in La Porte, Texas, on March 13, 1989; and WHEREAS, the City of La Porte sponsored this very successful tournament on behalf of the 9-1-1 Network; and WHEREAS, the City of La Porte displayed enthusiasm and generosity in the organizing and directing of this tournament; and WHEREAS, the City of La Porte also supported and helped to direct the large Display of Emergency Vehicles for children in the Harris County area; and WHEREAS, a number of employees of with the planning and benefitting the public Network; the City of La Porte assisted directing of this project education efforts of the NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Board of Managers and the Staff of the Greater Harris County 9-1-1 Emergency Network, express sincere congratulations , and appreciation to the Elected Officials and Employees of the City of La Porte, Texas, for sponsoring this First Annual 9-1-1 Benefit Golf Tournament on behalf of the Network's public education program. Rau AT'1'EST~ Barbara McConnell, Cler Greater Harris County 9-1-1 Emergency Network ~ I ~m RESOLUTION WHEREAS , citizens in the greater Harris County area can use one easily- remembered number, 9-1-1, for all emergencies--police, fire, and medical: and WHEREAS, the 9-1-1 system in the greater Harris County area is one of the finest, most technologically-advanced in the nation: and WHEREAS , the enhancements of this 9-1-1 system display the caller's tele- phone number and address, and that help can be sent even when the citizen cannot speak: and WHEREAS , the computer-based system automatically directs a 9-1-1 call to the proper jurisdiction: and WHEREAS, it is desireable that all citizens in the Greater Harris County 9-1-1 Emergency Network know when and how to use 9-1-1 in times of emergency: and the 'Greater Harris County 9-1-1 Emergency Network wishes to join with local, state, and national groups in recognizing the value of the 9-1-1 system: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Managers of the Greater Harris County 9-1-1 Emergency Network declare September 11, 1988, as "9-1-1 DAY IN THE GREATER HAlUlIS COUNTY AREA." Emergency Network DATE: August 27, 1987 RE: 9-1-1 DAY Friday, September 11, has been designated by the U. S. Congress as NATIONAL 9-1-1 DAY. Additionally, the Board of Managers of the Greater Harris County 9-1-1 Emergency Network has passed a Resolution recognizing the value of the 9-1-1 emergency system. In conjunction with this Resolution, the 9-1-1 Network is planning some activities that will take place on September 11, involving children releasing some balloons during a press conference at a local park, some interviews with citizens that have used 9-1-1 during an emergency, and a display of some equipment used by the public safety agencies. The major newspapers, and the local newspapers in your area will be running an ad and/or a public service message on that day reminding the citizens that 9-1-1 is available and should be used in the event of an emergency situation where pOlice, fire or an ambulance unit is needed. Would you please make a copy of' this Resolution available f'or your City Council Members and inf'orm them that September 11, will not only be recognized locally as 9-1-1 DAY, but for the first time, across the nation. Anders, Member AITEST~.~!>r~~ Barbara McConnell, ClerK Greater Harris County 9-1-1 Emergency Network ~ I ~m RESOLUTION WHEREAS, hundreds of dedicated Telecommunicators daily serve the citizens of Harris, Fort Bend, and Waller Counties by answering their telephone callsfor police, fire, and emergency medical services by dispatching the appropriate assistance as quickly as possible; and WHEREAS, the critical function performed by professional Telecommunicators also include those related toforestry and conservation operations, highway safety and mainte- nance activities, and many other operations performed by federal, state, and local government agencies; and WHEREAS, professional telecommunicators work to improve the emergency response capabilities of these communications systems through their leadership and participation in training programs to improve their skills; and WHEREAS, The Greater Harris County 9-1-1 Emergency Network wishes to join with The Associated Public-Safety Communications Officers, Inc., in setting aside the second week in April to recognize Telecommunicators and their crucial role in protection of life and property; NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOL VED by the Board of Managers that the week of April 14-20, 1991 as "Telecommunicators Week" in the territory served by the 9-1-1 Network in honor and recognition of our, community's Telecommunicators and the vital contribution they make to the safety and well-being of our citizens.
