1. All construction shall be in accordance with the plans and the specifications contained in the contract
documents as well as current construction standards for City of Lo Porte Department of Public Works and
Engineering as currently ammended.
2. Contractor shall obtain all permits required by State of Texas, Harris County, City of Lo Porte for
construction of paving, utilities and/or culverts within public rights of way. The Contractor shall notify Texas
Department of Transportation 72 hours in advance of commencing any construction in the street or road
right-of-way. (Refer to requirements detailed in TxDOT Permit No.
3. Contractor shall obtain all permits required by all governing agencies having jurisdiction over this project
prior to starting construction and shall comply with the regulations of Harris County, Texas for Flood Plain
Management.
4. All clearing, grubbing, stripping, excavation, fill and compaction shall be in accordance with the project
specifications.
5. The work area shall be secured and illuminated during darkness and periods of inactivity when in an area
accessible to the public.
6. Adequate drainage of the project shall be maintained at all times during construction. The Contractor
shall conform to the requirements of the Pollution Prevention Plan and be responsible for protecting,
maintaining, and restoring all drainage systems on or adjacent to the project site and any drainage ditch or
structure disturbed during construction shall be restored to the satisfaction of the owning authority.
7. Surface Restoration: At the end of all construction work, the Contractor shall restore existing facilities

207-7777. Any and all expenses associated with this shall be Included in the price bid for the project.
10. Texas law Article 1436c, prohibits all activities in which persons or equipment may come within six (6)
feet of energized overhead power lines, and Federal Regulations, Title 29, Part 1910.180(1) and Part
1926.550(a)(15) require a minimum clearance of ten (10) feet from these facilities. The above laws carry
both criminal and civil liabilities, with contractors and owners being legally responsible for the safety of
workers under the laws. If the project requires workers to work near overhead power lines, call (713)
207-7777 for the lines to be de -energized and/or moved at the Contractors expense. Any and all
expenses associated with this shall be Included in the price bid for the project.

13. City of La Porte will operate all water valves.
1. Al/ excavations within the right-of-way not under surfacing shall be backfilled by tamping In 6" horizontal
layers and/or as directed. All surplus material shall be removed from the right-of-way and the excavation
finished flush with surrounding natural ground.
2. Areas where sodding is disturbed by excavation or backfilling operations shall be seeded. Slopes of 4.1 or
steeper shall be replaced with block sodding. This work shall be /n accordance with Texas Department of
Transportation (TxDOT) specifications.

11. All existing power poles, light standards, signs, etc. which affect the proposed construction, shall be
removed and/or relocated by the Contractor, as required, whether shown on the drawings or not. Any and all
expenses associated with this shall be included In the price bid for the project.
12. All testing procedures used on this project shall conform to City of La Porte standards and requirements.
The initial testing expense shall be bome by the contractor and shall be included in the price bid for the
project. If any of the test results do not meet the specifications, it shall be the Contractors responsibility to
remove and replace such material so that the specifications can be met. Additional testing to prove
compliance with the specifications shall also be at the Contractor's expense.
13. All utilities represented on these drawings are shown at the approximate locations based on the best
available information. Some of the existing underground utilities shown hereon have not been field verified.
They have been plotted from information obtained from the City of Lo Porte and/or private utility companies.
The Contractor shall field determine the exact locations prior to commencing construction. The Contractor
shall .be responsible for any and all damages caused by his failure to exactly locate and maintain these
underground utilities.
14. The Contractor shall notify "LONESTAR NOTIFICATION CENTER" at 713-223-4567 and 'TEXAS ONE -CALL
SYSTEM" at 1-800-245-4545 a minimum of 48 hours in advance of construction to verify location and
depth of all existing utility lines. Contractor shall uncover existing utilities at all 'points of crossing" with
proposed underground lines to determine if conflict exists before commencing any construction. Notify the

1. Contractor shall cover all excavations in the pavement with anchored steel plates during non -working
hours. All repairs to existing pavement shall be in accordance with City of Houston Drawing No. 411-S-2,
Including all revisions, thereto.
2. Contractor shall provide and install traffic control devices in conformance with Part M of the "Texas
Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices" (Most recent edition as revised) during construction. No lanes
shall be blocked between the hours of 7:00 to 9:00 A.M. and 4.00 to 6:00 P.M. Monday through Friday.

Transportation is required to be kept at the job site.
4. Off -duty uniformed Police Officer(s) are required to direct traffic lanes that are blocked. The Contractor
