La Porte TO. <br />JOIN WITH OTHER GOVERNMENTS FOR THE PURPOSE OF PREPARING AND <br />IMPLEMENTING A COORDINATED WASTE TREATMENT MANAGEMENT PLAN. <br /> <br />WHEREAS the Governor, by Executive Order, has expressed the in- <br />tention of the State of Texas to become involved in intensive <br />water pollution control pursuant to the water Pollution Control <br />Act of 1972, and · <br /> <br />WHEREAS certain secti.ons of this Act require detailed attention <br />in areas having substantial water quality'control problems as a <br />result of urban industrial concentration, and <br /> <br />; <br />WHEREAS this condition has been determined <br />'which includes this ,(CitY/iRMRtX) of <br />and, <br /> <br />to exist in the area,' <br />La Porte <br /> <br />WHEREAS the Texas Water Quality Board .has ad.vised the Houston- <br />Galveston Area Counci.l of the Governor's intention to designate <br />the H-GAC as the planning agency for,the area generally includ- <br />ing Harris County, the southern portion of Montgomery County, <br />the eastern portion of Waller County, the northeastern portions <br />of Fort Bend and Brazoria Counties" and the northern portion of <br />,Galveston County, (see map) and <br /> <br />WHEREAS the Executive Committee of elected' officials represent- <br />ing the Houston-Galveston Area Council has recommended the con- <br />currence of all affected general purpose governmental agencies <br />involved in the area, <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE BE IT 'RESOLVED THAT the (CitY/~~~>>~K) <br />of . La Porte concurs in the Gqvernor's proposed action <br />and in his proposed designation of, the Houston-Galveston Area . <br />'Council as the planning agency for this area as described above, <br />and <br /> <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT the (CitY/~~~~f) of La Porte has <br />substantial water quality control problems and supports designa- <br />tion of the .area proposed pursuant to Section 208 of the, Environ-' <br />mental Protection Agency guidelines, and intends to join with . <br />other affecte~ general purpose units of local government within <br />the boundaries of the area to dev~lop and implement a plan that <br />will result in a coordinated waste treatment management system <br />for the area. <br /> <br />PASSED AND APPROVED this 3rd day of -March at a <br />regular duly called II\eeting of City of La Porte Commission <br /> <br />. <br />- <br /> <br />APPROVED: <br /> <br />7%l' <br />'~ -if,;-. / <br />l /'1. /; ~~ .,}I-e-)4/-a 4 <br /> <br />E.
