SANITARY SEWER SYSTEM CONSTRUCTION NOTES
1. FINISHED ELEVATION ON SANITARY SEWER MANHOLE RIMS SHALL BE FLUSH
WITH FINISHED GRADE WITHIN UTILITY EASEMENTS OR STREET
RIGHT-OF-WAY. CLEAN FILL SHALL BE ADDED AND SLOPED FROM MANHOLE RIM.
2. CONTRACTOR SHALL MARK LOCATION OF AND MAINTAIN RECORDS OF STUB,
STACKS, AND END OF SERVICE LEAD LOCATIONS, WITH WIRE LOOPS AND 2"
-- P.V.C. PIPE.
3. WATER LINES AND SANITARY SEWER LINES SHALL BE INSTALLED IN SEPARATE
TRENCHES.
4. PVC PIPE (POLYVINYL CHLORIDE) SHALL BE IN ACCORDANCE WITH ASTM D3034,

7. SANITARY SEWER MATERIALS AND CONSTRUCTION SHALL BE IN ACCORDANCE
WITH THE CITY OF LA PORTE DESIGN STANDARDS. CONTRACTOR TO FURNISH
TEST PLUGS AND RISERS (NO SEPARATE PAY). ALL SEWER LINES TO BE AIR
TESTED IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE CONTRACT AND DESIGN SPECIFICATIONS.

12. BEDDING FOR ALL TYPES OF SANITARY SEWER PIPE SHALL BE CLASS "AA" AT
ALL DEPTHS (NO SEPARATE PAY).
13. FOR ALL PVC PIPE, USE MANHOLE WATER STOP GASKET AND CLAMP ASSEMBLY
AT MANHOLE CONNECTIONS (NO SEPARATE PAY).
14, SANITARY SEWER MANHOLES SHALL BE STANDARD TYPE, UNLESS OTHERWISE
NOTED, AND BACKFILLED WITH CEMENT STABILIZED SAND AS SPECIFIED (NO
SEPARATE PAY). ALL SANITARY MANHOLES SHALL BE AT LEST 1 FOOT ABOVE
THE 100 YEAR BASE FLOOD ELEVATION OR SEALED AND VENTED TO AT LEAST
ONE FOOT ABOVE THE 100 YEAR BASE FLOOD ELEVATION. SECTIONS FOR
PRECAST MANHOLES SHALL BE JOINED WITH RUBBER GSKET JOINTS. "RAM
NEK" OR SIMILAR WILL NOT BE APPROVED. THE USE OF SEALED MANHOLE
COVERS IS PERMITTED IN THE 100-YR FLOOD PLAIN.
15. ALL FAR -SIDED LEADS SHALL BE SIX (6) INCHES OR EIGHT (8) INCHES DIAMETER
AT 0.7FJ MIN. SLOPE AND SHALL BE PVC, DR 26, 150 PSI PRESSURE PIPE
CONFORMING TO ASTM D-2241. STUBS AND FAR -SIDED LEADS WILL BE D.I.P. 150
PSI THICKNESS CL. 51, WHERE THERE IS LESS THAN THREE (3) FOOT COVER TO
TOP OF CURBS (NO SEPARATE PAY).
16. LEADS SERVING TWO LOTS SHALL HAVE A SERVICE "WYE" WITH PLUGS (NO
SEPARATE PAY). THE "WYE" SHALL BE LOCATED WITHIN THE STREET
RIGHT-OF-WAY OR ADJOINING UTILITY EASEMENT "
17.ALL PRECAST CONCRETE MANHOLES SHALL HAVE THE TOP 18 INCHES
CONSTRUCTED OF STEEL OR PRECAST PCC RINGS, SEALED INSIDE AND
OUTSIDE.
18. SANITARY SEWER LINE IN PIPE ZONE IN SIDE LOT EASEMENT SHALL BE
BACKFILLED WITH CEMENT STABILIZED SAND (NO SEPARATE PAY).
19.IF WET SAND IS ENCOUNTERED IN THE FIELD, USE SPECIAL BEDDING (NO
SEPARATE PAY).
20•USE WHITE PIPE FOR ALL FORCE MAINS.
21. PROVIDE EBAA OR APPROVED EQUAL PIPE RESTRANT ON UNDERGROUND

23. THE CONTRACTOR IS RESPONSIBLE FOR PROVIDING AS -BUILT RED LINES AND
FLOW LINE ELEVATIONS OF ALL SERVICE CONNECTIONS AND SHALL BE PLACED
ON AS-BUILTS PLANS AT THE COMPLETION OF THIS JOB.
24-THE UTILITY CONTRACTOR IS RESPONSIBLE FOR LOCATING AND MARKING ALL
STACKS AND FAR SIDE LEADS AFTER THE PAVING IN THIS SECTION IS
COMPLETE. k-INCH DEEP NOTCH SHALL BE CUT IN THE CURB AND PAINTED

25. ALL STATIONS ARE CENTERLINE OF STREET RIGHT-OF-WAY STATIONS EXCEPT
SANITARY SEWER STATIONING IN REAR AND SIDE LOT EASEMENTS. THIS
STATIONING IS BASED ON CENTERLINE OF PIPE.
26. ALL SEWERS IN PUBLIC RIGHT-OF-WAY OR EASEMENTS SHALL BE
CONSTRUCTED IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE LATEST REVISION OF THE TEXAS
COMMISSION ON EVIRONMENTAL QUALITY "RULES AND REGULATIONS FOR
PUBLIC WATER SYSTEMS,' CITY OF LA PORTE, STANDARD DETAIL SHEETS AND
THE LATEST REVISIONS AND/OR AMENDMENTS OF SAME SHALL BE OBSERVED.
27,ALL SANITARY SEWER MANHOLES TO BE CITY OF LA PORTE STANDARD
MANHOLE FOR SANITARY SEWER CONSTRUCTION UNLESS OTHERWISE NOTED

28. FINAL ELEVATION ON SAITARY SEWER MANHOLE RIMS SHALL BE FLUSH WITH

WHEN NOT LOCATED IN PAVED AREAS CLEAN FILL SHALL
BE ADDED AND SLOPED AWAY FROM MANHOLE RIM FOR STORM WATER
DRAINAGE.
29.EACH SEWER LEAD, WYE AND STACK SHALL BE MARKED WITH A RISER, SEALED
AT THE END WITH A GLUED CAP, AT THE TIME OF CONSTRUCTION, IT WILL BEGIN
AT THE FLOW LINE OF THE STUB AND EXTEND 2' (TWO FEET) ABOVE FINISHED
GRADE. IT SHALL BE LABELED (SIZE) SEWER LEAD AND BE MAINTAINED PLUMB
AND IN GOOD CONDITION THROUGHOUT THE REMAINDER OF THE PROJECT, AND
SHALL BE PAINTED WHITE.
30. FOR DETAIL OF SANITARY SEWER CROSSING AT WATER LINE, SEE CHAPTER 3
OF PICM.
31. ALL SANITARY SEWER MANHOLE COVERS MUST INCLUDE ONLY THE WORDS
"SANITARY SEWER" AND THE EMBLEM OF THE CITY OF LA PORTE.
32. ALL SANITARY SEWER LEADS SHALL EXTEND TO THE R.O.W. LINE.
33. 6" IS MINIMUM DIAMETER OF SEWER LINES FOR COMMERICAL BUILDINGS.
34. LIFT STATION, CONTROLS, PUMPS AND FLOATS SHALL BEINSTALLED
ACCORDING TO MANUFACTURER'S RECOMMENDATION.
35. SANITARY SEWER LINES MUST HAVE AT LEAST 10' (TEN FEET) CLEARANCE FROM
WATER LINES.

PAVEMENT CONSTRUCTION FOR THRU TRAFFIC WAYS FOR LOCAL
RESIDENTIAL STREETS.
2• 7" - 5 SACK, 3000 PSI REINFORCED CONCRETE WITH #4 BARS, 24"
C-C IS THE MINIMUM ACCEPTABLE PAVEMENT CONSTRUCTION FOR
COLLECTOR STREETS.

IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE TEXAS ADA ACCESSIBILITY GUIDELINES.
7. ALL PAVING SHALL BE IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE CITY OF LA PORTE
STANDARD DETAIL SHEETS.
8. ALL RETURNS SHALL BE IN ACCORDANCE WITH PICM AND THE LA
PORTE ZONING ORDINANCE.
9• WHEN 6" CONCRETE PAVED ROADWAY INTERSECTS 7" CONCRETE PAVED
ROADWAY OR ROADWAY, 7" CONCRETE SHALL BE CONSTRUCTED TO
ENDS OF ALL CURB RETURNS.
10. FAILURE TO MEET THE REQUIREMENTS THROUGH THE TESTING
PROCEDURE WILL RESULT IN THE REJECTION OF THAT PORTION DEEMED
TO BE DEFICIENT. THE PROPOSED PAVEMENT DEPTHS SHOWN ON THE
PLAN DETAIL SHEETS IS CONSISTENT WITH THESE NOTES AND SHALL BE
USED TO DETERMINE THE REQUIREMENT IN EACH CASE.
11. FAILURE OF PAVEMENT TO MEET THESE MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS WILL
RESULT IN THE REJECTION OF PAVEMENT. IMMEDIATE REMOVAL AND
REPLACEMENT OF SUBSTANDARD PAVEMENT SECTIONS WILL BE
NECESSARY TO SATISFY THESE REQUIREMENTS.
12.PAVEMENTS EXCEEDING DEPTH OR STRENGTH REQUIREMENTS WILL BE
ACCEPTED IF BOTH CRITERIAL MEET THE MINIMUM ESTABLISHED
REQUIREMENTS.
13. TRANSVERSE EXPANSION JOINTS ARE REQUIRED AT MAXIMUM SPACING
OF 40'-0", C-C WITH JOINTS AND VERTICAL CURB JOINTS TO BE
SEALED WITH LIQUID RUBBER CONFORMING TO TXDOT ITEM 360.2 (8)c

14. EXPANSION JOINT LAYOUT FOR INTERSECTIONS SHALL BE PROVIDED BY
ENGINEER TO THE CITY.
15. DENSITY TEST TO BE RETAKEN IN THE EVENT OF A Y2 " (ONE-HALF
INCH) OR GREATER RAINFALL.
16. CONTRACTOR SHALL NOTIFY THE CITY OF LA PORTE PUBLIC WORKS
DEPARTMENT AT 281-471-5020.
GENERAL NOTES
1. SURFACE RESTORATION AT THE END OF ALL CONSTRUCTION PROJECTS, THE
CONTRACTOR SHALL RESTORE EXISTING FACILITY (I.E. PROPERTY) EQUAL TO
OR BETTER THAN EXISTING SITE CONDITIONS PRIOR TO CONSTRUCTION.
2. THE LOADING AND UNLOADING OF ALL PIPE VALVES, HYDRANTS, MANHOLES
AND OTHER ACCESSORIES SHALL BE IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE
MANUFACTURER'S RECOMMENDED PRACTICES AND SHALL AT ALL TIMES BE
PERFORMED WITH CARE TO AVOID ANY DAMAGE TO THE MATERIAL. THE
CONTRACTOR SHALL LOCATE AND PROVIDE THE NECESSARY STORAGE AREAS
FOR MATERIALS AND EQUIPMENT.
3. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR SAFEGUARDING AND
PROTECTING ALL MATERIAL AND EQUIPMENT STORED ON THE JOBSITE. THE
CONTRACTOR SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE STORAGE OF MATERIALS IN A
SAFE AND WORKMANLIKE MANNER TO PREVENT INJURIES, DURING AND AFTER
WORKING HOURS, UNTIL PROJECT COMPLETION.
4. CONTRACTOR SHALL PROVIDE SHEETING, SHORING AND BRACING AS
NECESSARY TO PROTECT WORKMEN AND EXISTING UTILITIES DURING ALL
PHRASES OF CONSTRUCTION, AS PER O.S.H.A. REQUIREMENTS.
5. ALL TESTING PROCEDURES USED ON THIS PROJECT SHALL CONFORM TO THE
CITY OF LA PORTE STANDARDS. IF ANY OF THE TEST RESULTS DO NOT MEET
THE TESTING STANDARDS, IT SHALL BE THE CONTRACTOR'S RESPONSIBILITY TO
REMOVE OR REPLACE SUCH MATERIAL SO THAT THE TESTING STANDARDS CAN
BE MET.
6. ALL FINISHED GRADES SHALL VARY UNIFORMLY BETWEEN FINISHED
ELEVATIONS.
7. CONTRACTOR SHALL UNCOVER EXISTING UTILITIES AT ALL "POINTS OF
CROSSING" TO DETERMINE IF CONFLICTS EXIST BEFORE COMMENCING ANY
CONSTRUCTION. NOTIFY THE DESIGN ENGINEER AT ONCE OF ANY CONFLICT.
8, TOP OF FOUNDATION (SLAB) SHALL BE A MINIMUM OF 12" ABOVE TOP OF CURB
AND/OR 18" ABOVE THE CROWN OF ROAD IN ROADSIDE DITCH CONSTRUCTION
AREAS OR 2' ABOVE 100 YR FLOOD ELEVATION, WHICHEVER IS HIGHER.
9. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL NOT UNLOAD ANY TRACK -TYPE CONSTRUCTION
MACHINERY ON ANY EXISTING PAVEMENT OR CROSS OVER ANY EXISTING
PAVEMENT OR CURB DURING ANY PROJECT.
10. IF IT IS PERMISSIBLE TO USE A BACKHOE FOR TRENCH EXCAVATION IN LIEU OF
A TRENCHING MACHINE.
11. CONTRACTOR SHALL NOTIFY CITY OF LA PORTE PUBLIC IMPROVEMENTS
COORDINATOR AT 281-471-5020 TO HAVE AN INSPECTION.
12. THE CITY OF LA PORTE REQUIRES 48 HOURS NOTICE PRIOR TO COMMENCING
WORK IN THE CITY'S R.O.W.
13. CONTRACTORS CANNOT USE THE CITY'S R.O.W. FOR STORAGE OF
CONSTRUCTION MATERIALS.
14. ALL BACKFILL SHALL BE ENGINEERED %OSTBNDARD PROCTOR DENSITY
AND BE TESTED BY AN APPROVED TESTING LAB.

CONTRACTOR, AND REMOVE FROM SITE, AND DISPOSED OF IN A LEGAL
MANNER.
20. PRIOR TO CONSTRUCTION, CONTRACTOR SHALL COORDINATE WITH RESIDENTS
WHEN INTERRUPTING EXISTING SERVICES.
21. CONTRACTOR SHALL OBTAIN AN ELECTRICAL PERMIT (WHEN NEEDED) FROM
THE CITY OF LA PORTE INSPECTION DEPARTMENT PRIOR TO CONSTRUCTION.
ELECTRICIAN MUST BE LICENSED BY THE CITY OF LA PORTE. ELECTRICAL
INSPECTIONS SHALL BE COORDINATED WITH THE INSPECTIONS DEPARTMENT.
22. BARRICADES SHALL BE EQUIPPED WIHT ORANGE FLASHING LIGHTS.
23. MANHOLES SHALL BE EQUIPSIPED WITH INFILTRATION INSERTS.
