AN ORDINANCE DECLARING THE INTENTION OF THE CITY OF LA PORTE
TO INSTITUTE PROCEEDINGS TO ANNEX CERTAIN TERRITORY~ CALLING
A PUBLIC HEARING AT WHICH ALL INTERESTED PARTIES SHALL HAVE
AN OPPORTUNITY TO BE HEARD~ PROVIDING FOR THE PUBLICATION OF
NOTICE OF SUCH HEARING BY THE PUBLICATION OF THIS ORDINANCE~
AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF LA PORTE:
Section 1. The City Commission of the City of La Porte
hereby declares its intention to institute annexation proceed-
ings, to annex the following described territory to the City
of La Porte by the passage of an ordinance of annexation
extending the general corporate limits of the City of La Porte
for all purposes to include within such territory all of the
following described territory now situated within the exclusive
extraterritorial jurisdiction of the City of La Porte. As used
herein, the term extraterritorial jurisdiction shall have the
same meaning ascribed to it as is ascribed to it in the Municipal
Annexation Act of 1963, compiled as Article 970a, Vernon's
Annotated Texas Statutes:
All those tracts or parcels, of land out of the W. P.
Harris Survey, A-30, out of Harris County, Texas,
and bei~g'm0re particularly described as follows:
COMMENCING at a point of intersection of the North bank
of Little Cedar Creek with the shoreline of Galveston
Bay~
THENCE southwesterly, southerly; and southeasterly
following the meanders of the shoreline of Galveston Bay
to a point at the intersection of the North line of the
Pine Bluff Addition with the westerly shoreline of
Galveston Bay for a POINT OF BEGINNING;
THENCE westerly along the North line of the Pine Bluff
Addition and the South line of the Crescent View Addi-
tion to a point in the East right-of-way of State Highway
146 (also known as South Broadway)~
THENCE northerly along the East right-of-way of State
Highway 146 to a point, said point being the intersection
of the East right-of-way of State Highway 146 with an
eastward projection of the North right-of-way of McCabe
Road;
THENCE westerly with the eastward projection of the North
right-of-way line of McCabe Road to a point in the West
right-of-way of State Highway 146 (also known as South
Broadway), said point being the intersection of the North
right-of-way line of McCabe Road with the West right-of-
way line of State Highway 146;

THENCE continuing along the North right-of-way line
of McCabe Road and its westward projection to a point
in the East right-of-way line of the G.H.&S.A. Railroad
(also known as T.&N.O. Railroad)~
THENCE southeasterly along the East right-of-way line
of the G.H.&S.A. Railroad to the northwest corner of
that portion of Shoreacres Subdivision lying West of
State Highway 146 according to the map or plat of said
Shoreacres Subdivision recorded in Volume 7, Page 10,
of the Map Records of Harris County, Texas, said point
also being the southwest corner of Tract 1, of the
Bayshore Municipal Utility District as described in
Vernon's Texas Civil Statutes, Art. 8280-268;
THENCE easterly along the north boundary line of that
portion of Shoreacres Subdivision lying West of the afore-
mentioned State Highway 146 and the South boundary line
of Tract 1 of the Bayshore Municipal Utility District
to a point in the West right-of-way line of said State
Highway l46~
THENCE southerly along the West right-of-way line of
said State Highway 146 to a point said point being the
intersection of the westward projection of the North
line of that portion of Shoreacres Subdivision lying
East of State Highway 146 (also known as South Broadway)
with the West right-of-way of said State Highway 146;
THENCE easterly along the North boundary of that portion
of Shoreacres Subdivision lying East of said State '
Highway 146 and its westward projection to a point on
the shoreline of Galveston Bay;
THENCE in a northwesterly, northerly, and northeasterly
direction along the meanders of the shoreline of
Galveston Bay to the PLACE OF BEGINNING, said parcel
containing 396 acres, more or less.
Section 2. The City Commission of the City of La Porte
hereby calls a public hearing at which all interested persons
shall have an opportunity to be heard upon such proposal to
annex the territory described above, which hearing shall be
held in the City Commission Chambers, City Hall, City of
La Porte, La Porte, Texas, at seven o'clock P.M. on the
28th day of September, A.D. 1970.
Section 3. The annexation proceeding of which notice of
intention to annex is given by this ordinance shall be insti-
tuted not less than ten (10) days nor more than twenty (20)
days subsequent to such public hearing.
Section 4. The City Clerk of the City of La Porte is
hereby directed to cause notice of such public hearing to be
given by publication of this Ordinance in the La Porte-Bayshore

Sun, said newspaper having general circulation in the City of
La Porte and in the territory proposed to be annexed, such
publication to be made at least once in said newspaper, not
more than twenty (20) days nor less than ten (10) days prior
to the date of such public hearing.
Section 5. This Ordinance shall be effective immediately
upon its passage and approval.
