C. Smith, Mayor <br /> <br />E. A. Thomas, Commissioner <br /> <br />I. J. KibOdeaux, Commissioner <br /> <br />B. J. Bu~gin, Commissioner <br /> <br />H. G. Crofoot, Commissioner <br /> <br />when, among other business, the Commission adopted the follow- <br /> <br />ing resolution: <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO. 70-3 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION EXPRESSING A POSITIVE INTEREST IN SECURING <br />FLOOD INSURANCE UNDER THE NATIONAL FLOOD INSURANCE <br />PROGRAM, AND REQUESTING THE FEDERAL INSURANCE ADMINISTRATOR <br />TO DECLARE THE CITY OF LA PORTE ELIGIBLE UNDER THE PROGRAM. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City of La Porte is a political subdivision <br /> <br />of the State of Texas referred to in Article 8280-13, Vernon's <br /> <br />Revised Civil Statutes (Texas); and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, political subdivisions of the State of Texas are <br /> <br />authorized by Article 8280-13, Vernon's Revised Civil Statutes <br /> <br />(Texas) to take all necessary and reasonable actions to comply <br /> <br />with the requirements and criteria of the National Flood <br /> <br />Insurance Pr~gram; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the .ge~gr?phical area under the jurisdiction of <br />the City of La Porte has suffered damage from floods from high <br />tides in Galveston Bay, Deer Creek, Little Cedar Bayou and <br /> <br />B~g Island SlO~lgh and other low areas; and <br />WHEREAS, the citizens of the City of La Porte are desirous <br /> <br />of obtaining insurance coverage under the National Flood <br /> <br />Insurance Program; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City of La Porte has not adopted adequate <br /> <br />flood plain regulatory measures, but is willing to do so;now, <br /> <br />therefore, <br />
