ORDINANCE NO. 892
AN ORDINANCE VACATING, ABANDONING AND CLOSING A PORTION OF
PARK AVENUE; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF LA PORTE:
WHERBAS, the City Commission of the City of La Porte has
been requested by the record owners of all of the property
abutting the hereinafter described portion of Park Avenue, to
vacate, abandon, and permanently close said portion of Park
Avenue; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of La Porte has
determined, and does hereby find, determine and declare that
the hereinafter described portion of Park Avenue is not suit-
able, needed, or beneficial to the public as a public road or
street, and that the closing of the hereinafter described
portion of Park Avenue is for the protection of the public
and for the public interest and benefit, and that the herein-
after described portion of said Park Avenue should be vacated,
abandoned, and permanently closed:
Section 1. Under and by virtue of the power granted to
the City of La Porte under its Home Rule Charter and Chap. 13,
Title 28, Art..1175, of the Revised Civil Statutes of the
State of Texas, 1925, the hereinafter described portion of
Park Avenue is hereby permanently vacated, abandoned, and
closed by the City of La Porte, to-wit:
Being all that portion of the East 40 feet of Park
Avenue, W. B. Lowrance Subdivision of the Johnson
Hunter League, A-35, La Porte, Harris County, Texas,
as recorded in Volume 85, at pages 596 and 597 of
the Deed Records of Harris County, Texas, and being
more particularly described as follows:
BEGINNING at a 3/411 iron rod in the East right-of-way
line of Park Avenue; said point being the Southeast
corner of that East 40 feet of Park Avenue as vacated
and abandoned by the Harris County Commissioners
Court on August 26, 1968, and recorded in the minutes
of said court at Volume 68, Page 7;
THENCh South, along the East right-of-way line of
Park Avenue, and being the West line of the Frank
Bonner Howard 3.95 acre Tract No.3, as recorded in
Volume 3319, Page 7, of the Harris County Deed Records,
a distance of 656.16 feet to the Southwest corner of

the said Bonner 3.95 acre tract, said point being on
the North property line of Crescent Shore Subdivision
as recorded in Volume 8, Page 58, of the Harris County
Map Records;
THENCE North 88028'35" West along the North property
line of Crescent Shores Subdivision, at 17.35 feet
passing a 1-1/2" iron pipe found for the Northwest
corner of the said Crescent Shores Sub~ivision, at a
distance of 40.02 feet a point for corner, being
10 feet East of the center line of Park Avenue;
THENCE North, parallel to and 40 feet West of the
East right-of-way line of Park Avenue, a distance of
664.43 feet to a 3/4" iron rod which is the Southwest
corner of that East 40 feet of Park Avenue as vacated
and abandoned by Harris County Commissioners Court;

THENCE South 76051'37" East, a distance of 41.07
feet to the PLACE OF BEGINNING, said tract containing
0.606 acres of land.
Section 2. This Ordinance shall not be effective until
such time as the City of La Porte issues a building permit for
construction on the Frank Bonner Howard acreage, situated East
of" and adjacent to the hereinabove described portion of Park
Avenue. If such building permit has not been issued within
six months from the date of the passage of this ordinance,
this ordinance shall be void and of no further effect.
