ORDINANCE NO.
913
AN ORDINANCE APPOINTING A BOARD OF EQUAL-
IZATION COMPOSED OF THREE MEMBERS; SETTING
THE DATE OF ITS FIRST MEETING; AND PRESCRIB-
ING ITS POWERS AND DUTIES; AND DECLARING AN
EFFECTIVE DATE.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF LA PORTE,
TEXAS, THAT:
Section 1. The hereinafter named three residents,
each of whom is a qualified voter and real property owner in
the City of La Porte, are hereby appointed to the Board of
Equalization for a one-year term, or until their successors
shall have been appointed:
Frank R. Boyle, Jr.
D. F. Sheffield
Lester R. Clark
Section 2. Such Board of Equalization shall choose
from its membership a Chairman. The City Tax Assessor-
Collector shall be ex-officio Secretary of the Board. A
majority of said Board shall constitute a quorum for the trans-
action of business. The Board of Equalization shall hold its
first meeti~g at a time to be set by it, on the 10th day of
March, 1972, or as soon there-after as practicable.
Section 3. The Board of Equalization shall have
all of the powers and duties prescribed by Article VIII, Section
76 thro~gh 79, bot~ inclusive, of the City Charter of the
City of La Porte.
Section 4. This Ordinance shall be in full force and
effect from and after its pass~ge and approval.
PASSED AND APPROVED this the 7th day of February,
1972.
