ORDINANCE NO. 914
AN ORDINANCE REPEALING ORDINANCE NO. 590; ESTABLISHING THE
RATES AND RULES FOR USE OF THE MUNICIPAL SWIMMING POOL; PRO-
VIDING THE METHOD OF EMPLOYMENT OF A MANAGER, LIFE GUARDS AND
ATTENDANT; PROVIDING A PENALTY FOR VIOLATION OF THE RULES FOR
THE USE OF THE MUNICIPAL SWIMMING POOL; CONTAINING A SAVINGS
CLAUSE; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF LA PORTE:
Section 1. Admission to the Municipal Swimming Pool may
be obtained by season pass or by paying a general admission
fee.
A. Season Passes - Family season passes will be issued
at City Hall. A member of the family must apply in
person for the pass. Fees established for season
passes are as follows:
One person (5 yrs and over)
Two persons
Three persons
Four or more persons

Section 2. The following rules are established for the
use of season passes: '
A. Family,passes are for the use of the immediate
family only.
B. Holders of season passes must register their names
before entering the bathhouse. '
C. Non-pass holders will pay admission cha!ge prior to
entering bathhouse.
Section 3. The following rules shall, govern the use of
the Municipal Pool: '
A. On week days, including Saturdays, the pool will be
open from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., and from 6:00 p.m.
to 9:00 p.m. for general swimming. The pool will
be closed Monday mornings for cleaning and maintenance.
Tuesdays through Saturdays the pool will be open from
8:00 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. for swimming classes.
, No admission after 8:30 p.m. in the pool area.
On Sundays the pool will be open from 2:00 p.m. to
6:00 p.m. for general swimming.
Everyone must be out of the pool by 15 minutes before
closing time, and shall be dressed and out of pool
enclosure by the hour set for closing.
B. Swimming teams may use the Municipal Pool during
available hours. Scheduled Swim Meets will be'
held if scheduled within three (3) weeks prior to
swim meet date.

C. No person shall be admitted to pool who has sores,
open abrasions, a cold, or any other physical condi-
tion which might contaminate the pool or jeopardize
such person's own safety, or that of others.
D. Everyone must take a shower bath before entering the
pool. No bobby pins or hair pins allowed in pool.
E. No child under the age of seven (7) will be permitted
in the pool, unless under the direct supervision of a
responsible person.
F. The attendant in charge shall enforce such other
sanitary measures as are deemed necessary to safe-
guard the health, safety and well-being of persons
using the pool and its facilities.
G. No bottles, glass, candy, or food of any kind will
be permitted within the pool enclosure. Bottles of
suntan lotion may be kept in one's basket, which
shall be available to patrons for use in the bath-
house.
H. When diving from a springboard, not more than one
jump will be permitted for each dive.
I. No running or rough playing will be permitted with-
in the pool enclosure.
J. No person wearing street clothes will be allowed
within the pool enclosure.
K.. No drinking of alcoholic beverages will be allowed
in, on, or around the Municipal Pool and Park Area
at any time.
L. No dogs or pets of any kind will be permitted with-
in the pool enclosure or bathhouse.
M. No unauthorized persons will be allowed on the life-
guard platform at any time.
N. The manager or other person in charge shall have the
power to eject any person from the pool enclosure,
bathhouse, or park for violation of any of the rules,
or any person whose condition or conduct warrants
such action, in his opinion. Further~ the manager
or other person in charge shall have the power to
refuse admission to the pool, bathhouse or park, to
any person.
Section 4. A manager, three (3) lifeguards, one (1)
relief lifeguard, one (1) basket attendant, and one (1) cashier
shall be employed for the season by the City.
Section s. Any person, firm, corporation, association,
partnership, trustee, or any agent, servant or employee there-
of who shall violate any provision of this ordinance, shall be
deemed guilty of a misdemeanor and upon conviction shall be
punished by a fine not to exceed Two Hundred Dollars ($200.00).

Each day any violation of this ordinance shall continue shall
constitute a separate offense.
Section 6. If any section, sentence" phrase, clause, or
any part of any section, sentence, phrase, or clause, of this
ordinance shall, for any reason, be held invalid, such invalid-
ity shall not affect the remaining portions of this Ordinance,
and it is hereby declared to be the intention of this City
Commission to have passed each section, sentence, phrase,
clause, or part thereof, irrespective of the fact that any other
section, sentence, phrase or clause, or part thereof, may be
declared invalid.
Section 7. Ordinance No. 590 is expressly repealed.
