HomeMy WebLinkAboutO-1981-1000-I . . e ORDINANCE NO. 1000- I AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 1000 OF THE CITY OF LA PORTE, TEXAS, DESIGNATING THE AREAS WHERE BEER FOR CONSUMPTION ON THE PREMISES MAY BE SOLD AND PROHIBITING THE SALE ELSEWHERE; PROVID- ING FOR HOURS OF OPENING AND CLOSING; PROVIDING SALE OF BEER FOR CONSUMPTION OFF PREMISES SHALL NOT BE AFFECTED; DEFINING SOURCE OF AUTHORITY; PROVIDING THAT NO LICENSE SHALL BE ISSUED EXCEPT FOR THE AREAS HEREIN DESIGNATED; FINDING COMPLIANCE WITH THE OPEN MEETINGS LAW; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF. WHEREAS, the City of La Porte desires to regulate the closing hours for the sale of beer by retailers selling beer e 667-10-1/2 of the Penal Code of the State of Texas. for consumption on premises in accord with provisions of Article NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LA PORTE: Section 1. In addition to the locations specified in Sec- tion 1 of Ordinance No. 1000, passed and approved by the City Commission of the City of La Porte on August 19, 1974, the sale of beer and wine shall also be permitted during the hours set by the general laws of the State of Texas at the following location by a retailer selling beer and wine for consumption on premises, to-wit: e All of Lots Five (5), Six (6), and Twenty-seven (27) through Thirty- three (33), both inclusive, in Block Fifty (50), TOWN OF LA PORTE, a sub- division in Harris County, Texas, according to the map thereof recorded, in Volume 67, Page 196, of the Deed Records of Harris County, Texas, SAVE AND EXCEPT the East Twenty Feet (E.20') of Lots Twenty-seven (27) through Thirty-three (33), conveyed to County of Harris by deed recorded in Volume 699, Page 409, of the Deed Records of Harris County, Texas, being the property located at 129 N. 10th Street, La Porte, Texas, known as "Joel's." r ~:r~ b~ ~ Pct1' ~ " ~CJI'L, 1M. r:f}. Except and to the extent amended hereby, Ordi- 4It nance No. 1000 shall remain in full force and effect. . . - Ordinance No. 1000-~, Page 2. Section 3. The City Council officially finds, deter- mines, recites and declares that a sufficient written notice of the date, hour, place and subject of this meeting of the Ci ty Council was posted at a place convenient to the public a t the Ci ty Hall of the City for the time required by law preced ing this meeting, as required by the Open Meetings Law, Article 6252-17, Texas Revised Civil Statutes Annotated; and e that this meeting has been open to the public as required by law at all times during which this ordinance and the subject matter thereof has been discussed, considered and formally acted upon. The City Council further ratifies, approves and confirms such written notice and the contents and posting thereof. Section 4.
