ORDINANCE NO. 1033 .-~' - j AN ORDINANCE DECLARING THE RESULTS OF THE REGULAR ELECTION HELD IN THE CITY OF LA PORTE ON APRIL 3, 1976, FOR THE ELECTION OF A MAYOR; A CITY COMMISSIONER, POSITION 2; AND A CITY COMMISSIONER, POSITION 4. WHEREAS, there was held in the City of La Porte, on the 3rd day of April, 1976, an election for the purpose of elect- ing a Mayor of the City of La Porte; a City Commissioner, Position 2; and a City Commissioner, Position 4; each to serve for a two-year term; and WHEREAS, there were cast at said election for the following listed persons the number of votes opposite their respective names: .. Simons as shown in the official election returns heretofore delivered by the Election Judge and officials to the Mayor and City Commissioners of the City of La Porte and submitted to the City Commission:. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF LA PORTE: Section 1. That said election was duly called and notice thereof given in accordance with law; that said ...... , . ' election was held in the manner required by law; that due '.'- fII'" .. fII, e e Ordinance No. 1033, Page 2. returns of said election have been made by the proper officers; that said returns have been canvassed by the City Commission of the City of La porte; that a total of 1,334 persons voted at said election, including persons voting on the regular voting machines~ and on the absentee voting machine; that said election has resulted in the election of the following named person as City Commissioner, Position 2, to-wit: I. J. KIBODEAUX Section 2. The .City Commission of the City of La Porte hereby finds, determines and declares that no candidate for Mayor, and no candidate for City Commissioner, Position 4, received a majority of all votes cast for all the candidates for each of said offices. Accordingly, pursuant to Section 12 of the Home Rule Charter of the City of La Porte, a run-off election shall be held on Saturday, April 24, 1976, at which said election the two candidates receiving the highest number of votes for Mayor, and the two candidates receiving the highest number of votes for City Commissioner, Position 4, shall be voted for again. Section 3. This Ordinance shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage and approval, and it is so Ordered. PASSED AND APPROVED, this the 5th day of April, 1976.
