HomeMy WebLinkAboutO-1976-1059 -.~-:- .' .:^~ ..~., . , ORDINANCE NO. 1059 AN ORDINANeE ADOPTING AND DESIGNATING THE 1974 EDITION, SOUTHERN STANDARD SWIMMING POOL eODE, AS THE SWIMMING POOL eODE OF THE eITY OF LA PORTE; PROVIDING ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS FOR THE eONSTRUCTION OF SWIMMING POOLS IN THE eITY OF LA PORTE; CON- TAINING A SAVINGS eLAUSE AND A REPEALING CLAUSE; PROVIDING THAT ANY PERSON VIOLATING THE TERMS OF THIS ORDINANCE SHALL BE DEEMED GUILTY OF A MISDEMEk~OR AND UPON CONVICTION SHALL BE FINED IN ANY SUM NOT MORE THAN TWO HUNDRED DOLLARS ($200.00) AND EAeH DAY OF VIOLATION SHALL BE DEEMED A SEPARATE OFFENSE; AND PRO- VIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY eOMMISSION OF THE CITY OF LA PORTE: Section 1. The Southern Standard Swimming Pool eode, 1974 Edition, as adopted by the Southern Building eode Congress, a copy of which is on file in the office of the eity Clerk of the eity of La Porte, Texas, is hereby adopted and designated as the Swimming Pool Code of the eity of La Porte, incorporated by reference in this Ordinance, and made a part hereof, as fully as if copied at length herein. Section 2. In addition, all swimming pools constructed in the City.of La Porte shall meet the following requirements: (1) The drain pipe, ring and seat shall be of non-corrosive material. (2) A sump shall be constructed under the pool, if the pool is of a depth of nine feet (9') or more, to allow for draining and refilling. (3) A light shall be installed at the deep end of the pool if the pool is more than seven feet (7 I) deep. (4) Swimming pool shall be drained in City storm drains only, and shall not be drained in sanitary sewer drains. (5) All swimming pools shall be equipped with a back-wash system. Section 3. The invalidity of any section or provision of this Ordinance or of the Codes hereby adopted shall not invali- date other sections or provisions thereof. Section 4. All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby repealed. Section 5. Any person, firm, partnership, or corporation, violating any provision of this Ordinance, or any section or provision of the several codes adopted hereby, shall be deemed .- . .-._~ .-_. " . . , Ordinance No. 1059 , Page 2. guilty of a misdemeanor, and upon conviction shall be fined in any sum not more than Two Hundred Dollars ($200.00), and each day of violation shall be deemed as a separate offense. Section 6. This Ordinance shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage, approval, and publication as required by law.
